Guest guest
Elan, These are the supplements I use and recommend to my clients, and why - 1) Plant-based digestive enzymes - http://tinyurl.com/mkwo and/or http://tinyurl.com/ey8l - these are both excellent choices, and they both work! (Do the pudding test to make sure your enzymes work - stir the powder into pudding, and it should liquify the pudding in a minute or two, and if it doesn't, then they won't work in your body.) I have tested many brands and these tested to be the best and quickest-working. They also have " mycopepsin " which is the enzyme that works in a low pH. So these enzymes work in a huge range of pH, unlike others like fruit-based or pancreatic-based that work only in a very narrow range of pH, so if your own personal pH doesn't match the supplement's pH, then they won't work inside you. The small intestine is alkaline with a pH of about 8 to 8.5. The stomach is acid with a resting pH of about 5 to 6. These plant enzymes work in a broad pH range of about 2.5 to 9. Therefore, acidity doesn't harm these enzymes nor does hydrochloric acid in the stomach. Pancreatic enzymes (comes from an animal source) will work only in an alkaline pH of about 7.8 to 8.4. This is fine for people who tend to be too alkaline (most people aren't), but pancreatic enzymes won't work at all in people who tend to be too acidic. Papaya enzymes, or fruit-based, are not as effecive as plant enzymes because papaya works at an optimal temperature of 105 degrees F, which is warmer than normal body temperature of 98.6 degrees. Bromelian or pineapple enzymes are even less effective because they work at an optimal temperature of 130 degrees. Plus - one more good thing about these plant-based enzymes - they are microblended with a whole food which supplies minerals in the capsule. Enzymes cannot work without minerals. 2) Probiotics - great choices - Acidophilus http://tinyurl.com/24ajq , Bifidus http://tinyurl.com/26rur , and Spectrabiotic (a full spectrum of probiotics) http://tinyurl.com/6gzqa - And again - you can test your probiotics to see if they work - stir them into milk, and it should curdle the milk. And these do work - because they have a whole food " starter food " (acts as a PREbiotic that feeds the PRObiotics) microblended right in. These provide the entire digestive tract with superb probiotic support. I love the Spectrabiotic - it has eight key good bacteria, and was created through the joint efforts of respected food scientist, the late Dr. Khem Shahani; and enzyme specialist Viktoras Kulvinskas (cofounder with Ann Wigmore of the Hippocrates Health Institute and author of many books). Also contains Jerusalem artichoke, and an acerola and rose hips blend, which also promote the growth of friendly bacteria in the digestive tract. 3) Micronutrients - best of course to get from organic whole foods - dark green leafy veggies, and a wide spectrum of deep-colored fruits and veggies. When you become hungry, your body is asking you to give it 45 essential nutrients (essential means that the body cannot make it - it has to come from food). The 45 essential nutrients are categorized as 20 minerals, 15 vitamins, 8 essential amino acids, and 2 essential fatty acids. These have to come to your body daily from the foods you are eating - not monthly, not weekly - daily! If a person is on the Standard American Diet (SAD) they will not be getting these 45 nutrients. Actually, you can eat as healthy as possible and maybe still not get them because of where the produce is grown - if it is grown in nutrient-depleted soil, then the produce won't be nutrient-dense. I recommend a whole food supplement to fill in the gaps - this nutritional organic whole food blue green algae does have all 45 essential nutrients - naturally occurring. Plus more - chlorophyll, protein, etc. http://tinyurl.com/g1iz and http://tinyurl.com/iw4k This is all any body needs (human or animal) - plant-based enzymes for digestion, probiotics for assimilation of nutrients, micronutrients to help your body run smoothly. Whatever you do, don't put isolated/synthetic/man-made junk in your body. All you will end up with is expensive pee.
