Guest guest
Just catching up on this thread, and see that we're discussing I.C. A close friend has been through hell with IC and is just now finding her way out. After years of getting parts and adhesions cut out of her and some kind of "stretching" procedure every 6 (or maybe 12?) months apart, her road into misery culminated with 5 surgeries, spaced less than a year apart. After an emergency surgery for some type of blockage, she woke up to a "bag". The constant drugs pushed her into a state of delirium (extreme toxemia, I believe) which persisted for weeks. After that surgery, she went on digestive enzymes, probiotics, a selection of natural anti-pathogens and yeast maintenance (over the course of a few months). Surgery #5 went smoothly, and she feels better than she has in years. This surgery removed the bag and put her back together. She credits metabolic enzymes, which I forced her to start taking a week before the last surgery, with a quick recovery. She has had nearly constant, intolerable pain for years (hence the desperation that allowed all those surgeries). With enzyme therapy, yeast control and a few other biomedical interventions, she feels like she finally has a chance to get well. She is currently weaning down from her pain patch, using nattokinase, serrapeptase and magnesium oil for pain relief. I'm sure the yeast maintenance helps a great deal with the pain, as well. I second Elan's recommendation of magnesium, as I believe we are all deficient. We use transdermal magnesium oil, which is great for pain of all types, and Natural Calm, which is a tasty powder you mix with water. My 12yo actually asks me to make it for her. I just bought my friend a book that had high reviews at Amazon, I think it was called Along The Healing Path. It was specifically for IC. I took a quick look at the herb section, and I was impressed with the information. However, I don't have IC, so I'm going mostly by the review of others. Also, a book that helped me understand health, illness and recovery is Health via Food, which is available online. It's an old book written by a doctor who got ill. None of his medicine worked, so he went looking for the truth. He (and others like him) brought the "Nature Cure" to the public attention (or tried to) and were stomped by the allopathic/pharmaceutical empire. He ultimately deserted surgery and changed his focus to healing those who doctors sent home to die. He only lost 2 out of thousands, over the course of 24 years, and he "treated" everyone the exact same way. Convinced me that all disease is toxemia (and the resultant malnutrition) and the body will heal itself if you remove all toxic sources. hth and good luck - Darla p.s. Have you tried the herb marshmallow? I remember this one being listed at the top of the herb section, which looked like they were listed in order of importance. I also remember licorice, mullein and red raspberry listed, so you might want to google IC and those herbs. - elan_spire Sunday, February 10, 2008 10:33 PM [sPAM] Re: Hi I'm new to the group , "cjcamt" <marie.eva wrote:>> Hello Darla, You are right about the autism diet. Dear Marie,I agree with Darla that digestive enzymes may be helpful for you. Youalso might consider taking some therapeutic grade probiotics. Here'sa link to an excellent product called Bio-Kult that contains 14strains of beneficial bacteria:http://www.nutrivene.com/view_item.php?ProductID=226 & Supplementing your diet with magnesium might also be helpful for you. Here's an article about how increased intake of magnesium may bebeneficial in dissolving kidney stones:http://www.mgwater.com/rod16.shtmlHere's a link to a magnesium citrate product that is easily absorbed:http://www.calmnatural.com/Both Dr. Hulda Clark and Dr. Richard Schulze also have protocols forkidney cleansing that you might consider looking into:http://www.drclark.net/en/cleanses_clean-ups/kidney_cleanses.phphttp://www.herbdoc.com/p35.asphttp://www.herbdoc.com/p31.aspAnd you also might wish to consider taking some kind of super foodsupplement to provide you with some good quality nutrition. Here's alink to one of (if not THE) first super foods ever invented:http://www.thesynergycompany.com/pages/pure-synergy.htmlFrom what I understand, it's also very important for those with kidneyproblems to drink copious amounts of fluids. The more I learn about the best ways to attain and maintain goodhealth, the more it's becoming clear that when people are confrontedwith any kind of chronic disease, two of the most important thingsthey can do for themslves on the journey towards wellness are a) awell thought out program of periodic (or even ongoing) internalcleansing/detoxification, and b) the regular consumption of as muchsuperior nutrition as possible. There's no doubt that our environment (as well as our bodies) hasbecome rife with toxic poisons and pollutants. And as a result of therampant practice of industrialized agriculture and factory farming, much of the topsoil in the western world has become radically depletedof the microbial life and trace minerals required to grownutritionally dense foods. So if we are truly to become well, then itonly makes sense that we must not only cleanse and purge our bodies ofthe toxins that have accumulated within us, but we must also find away to regularly supplement our diets with the kind of nutrient denseproducts that will provide us with the widest range of qualitynourishment possible.I hope this helps, Marie. Perhaps if you do some research and findsome cleansing and nutritional protocols that work for you, there's agood chance that this may help to direct you towards the path you'reseeking so that you may begin to restore at least some greater measureof good health for yourself.Best of luck, elan
