unnecessary ileostomy(PLZ READ!!!! IT MAY SAVE YOUR LIFE!!)

I just had my ileostomy reversed last week!!!

Thank goodness it WAS reversable!!! It was done because of a false

diagnosis from a barium enema and my chronic constipation!!!! The U

of M thought I had a neurogenic colon and gave me a totally unneeded

ostomy!! This of course caused other problems such as a huge hernia

and diversion colitis!!! I can't tell you how happy I am for them

both to be gone!! I looked lopsided from the hernia!! And got teased

because of it!! I had a recent motility test which confirmed i did

NOT need the ostomy!! The U refused to revers it and I went to 6

surgeons before finding one who DID reverse the mistake!! This it

seems has become a " convienence " surgery for colo-rectal surgeons to

perform!!! So they don't have to deal with the underlying cause!!! I

now have BMs quite normal now and without enemas or laxatives!! So my

colon never truely was " neurogenic " as the U proposed after only 1

test!!! And NO motility testing what so ever!! Needless to say,I am

currently pursuing a lawsuit on the U of M!!!This was strongly

advised by my NEW surgeon!!! The U also refused to fix my hernia

which became incarcerated and was so twisted I had to rely on IV

nutrition!! My NEW surgeon says if I had not had this fixed,the

gangrene would have killed me!! I lost 3 feet of my colon as a result

and some small bowel!!! ALWAYS ALWAYS SEEK A 2ND AND 3RD OPINION FOR

THIS KIND OF SURGERY!!!! IT MAY SAVE YOUR LIFE AND SANITY!!!!

I'll bet that they aren't going to reverse the money that was paid to the doctor from either your insurance or your pocket for a unneeded procedure.

Doctor still got paid and that is crap!
