Guest guest
My 12 yr. old has been having a horrible time sleeping. We've already blocked all the light from his room at night but is there something that I can give him to get a good nights sleep? (We already put him in counseling to see if he was over stressed or something so we've been working with her as well and she was the one who suggested covering up the windows at night but it's not working.) Guest guest
Please be very very careful with giving herbs such as skullcap to a child. Rather than offering a child herbal concoctions that taste pretty terrible- such as valerian - perhaps a few cups of Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime tea made from chamomile with spearmint would be safe and effective. Sleepytime worked like a charm years ago with my own son [now 30]. Certainly attempting to understand underlying reasons your child may not be able to fall asleep easily should also be considered. Guest guest
Does he get a good diet, does he take in a heap of caffeine in his drinks? Does he get fresh air? A shower and warm milk before bed? Exercise? Too much TV or PC or games? Please give us an idea of lifestyle instead of just popping a pill? Guest guest
Yes, we do not tend to eat junk food (that includes pop) in our home. Fruits and Veggies are always served. Wasn't really waning a pill just what to do about it. He's active, healthy boy. The family is allowed a max of 3 hrs of tv and very rarely plays games. That's why I was so floored that he had them I've never seen anything like that before. I had a little one on my toe when I was little and it was in the summer so mom put dandelion milk on it from the yard and it was gone within about a week but these are nasty looking things and it's winter, lol. Thanks. , " Jane MacRoss " <highfield1 wrote: > > Does he get a good diet, does he take in a heap of caffeine in his drinks? > Does he get fresh air? A shower and warm milk before bed? Exercise? Guest guest
Does the child get at least 20 minutes of sunlight a day w/o sunglasses? That helped me with sleep disturbances. Another thing that helps. Shut off all tv, video games, music, at least 2 hours before bedtime. This means no telephone, no talking to anyone. That's what i have to do sometimes, to shut my brain off at night. Cover the clock face too. You may also put a cd player by his bed, playing ocean waves. Played softly helps to relax, and drifting off. He could be Bipolar, which affects sleep, and not being able to shut the brain down. Been there, am that.Tizzy <tash_75_99 wrote: Yes, we do not tend to eat junk food (that includes pop) in our home.Fruits and Veggies are always served.
