Guest guest
Dear Laura, I too have fibromyalgia, I had years of unexplained pain, IBS, muscle stiffness and bad sleep patterns, went to my doctor many times for the many symptoms I had and he never once came up with a diagnosis of fibro, all symptons were taken in isolation. Tests came back negative for everything and he just gave up really. I live in the UK and fibro back then was just considered a "waste bin" diagnosis and no one seemed to take it seriously. I decided to give up on my doctor and look to the internet for information, I found a group here who from time to time discussed a treatment, (no cure for this disease), and after reading up on it I just knew it was the answer. It is the Guaifenesin Protocol and if you live in the US and are in California, then the doctor who developed this protocol is in Marina del Rey. Dr R Paul St Amand and all of his staff have fibro too, the website for information is www.fibromlyalgiatreatment.com do have a read up on it, there are thousands of us who have our lives back because of this man. I might add that, he doesn't make anything from the simple drug that is taken, I'm aware that there are many charlatans out there, and it is important to know that this doctor isn't one of them. You do not have to go and see him, this can be done on your own, there is a support group to answer any questions you may have, his assistant Claudia Marek, who I met in Scotland a few years ago, helped me tremendously in the beginning. I have gone from wanting to die to living life to the full, I do still get the odd ache and pain but nothing like the dreadful pain I used to get. At this point I should say this protocol is not for the faint hearted, there is quite a lot involved and it's a good idea to buy the doctors book, "What you dr may not tell you about Fibromyalgia" available from Amazon. Please do look up the symptoms list on the website, you will be amazed and light bulbs will come on as you realise that so many things are fibro. The other good piece of advice is to look at the diet, one low in simple carbs can reduce pain levels just on it's own. There are two on the site, strict for weight loss and liberal if you don't need to lose weight, Dr St Amands says that the great majority of people with fibro are hypoglycaemic making this diet necessary. I hope this helps your husband Laura, if you decide to go ahead with it I'd love to hear how he is doing. Regards, Kristine
