Guest guest
My dd 20, has a boil at the top of the buttocks in the crack. It has bothered her off and on for quite some time. We've tried all kinds of home rememdies (topically and internally) for it and nothing has worked so far. It kind of came and went, was better and worse but never gone. Sometimes it was an open hole, but was usually closed over. It's worse now and swollen (coming to a head??) and we really want to take care of it once and for all. She doesn't like the idea of going to the doctor as you can imagine! We've done all kinds of cleasing in the last year and she's taken lots of vit. C, etc. We need to treat the actual boil topically now. I've never had a boil, but she seems to be in a lot of pain. Debbie in TX
Guest guest
Debbie, What your daughter has is probably a pilonidal cyst. When she was a fetus, the skin did not close over the sacrum properly, leaving a small 'channel' (the small dimple at the top of the buttocks is called a sacral dimple). As she has aged, small hairs have clogged it and it has become infected. It will come to a head and drain on its own, if she can bear the pain in the meantime! Mine has only done this once (at age 22 when I was 8 months pregnant with my first child) and I had no clue what it was. I went to the doc and he lanced it, and then that same night I was awakened by pain and it had also opened in a different place and was draining. Believe me, the pain is excruciating while you're waiting for it to come to a head. When the doctor lanced it I could have kissed him, it relieved so much pressure! lol You don't realize how much the skin in that area stretches as you move around. If you develop cysts often enough, I know they recommend surgery to just go in and remove the whole thing... mine only gives me problems if I (a) gain weight, or (b) wear jeans or skirts with a thick back seam too often, so surgery would not be an option I personally would pursue. I don't know what to offer other than to say I've been through it. A heating pad or warm, wet washcloths might hasten it coming to a head, but other than that, someone else will have to step in and give you some advice. Debbie, Hi, me again. =o) Thought it might be helpful (for us both! Both my sons also have sacral dimples; my youngest's is very deep) to do a little research and see what I could come up with. So far: Vitamin E applied topically to the area 3x per week. _____________________________ Calendula: Used as a topical application for boils and infected sores. It can be used in herbal form or in low dilution as a tincture, ointment, or compress. Taken internally, Calendula can help the body overcome infection. _____________________________ From Dr. Christopher's website: Causes of abscesses: An abscess is nature's way of purifying the body, bringing waste materials into a deposit that can be easily drawn out. Pus is formed by the loss of organic sulphur from cells, whereupon the cells decay. Herbs containing organic sulphur such as garlic, are used to rebuild and prevent this deficiency condition. The causes lie either in local injuries or in a defective blending of blood and (other) juices (liquids). But generally both circumstances unite in the development of an abscess. The basic cause of all abscesses, tumors, cysts, etc., stems back to an impure bloodstream, with its major cause being improper food intake. This condition causes poor action of liver and bowels, a faulty digestion, or disturbances in the lymphatic glands are generally responsible for the accumulation of impurities in the blood. Herbal Aids Poultices: The use of poultices to bring an abscess to a head and clear it out is the most important method of relief. A poultice of slippery elm, wild sage, and lobelia (equal parts) is good; another poultice that will draw very rapidly and will relieve pain at the same time is mullein (three parts) and lobelia (one part). Others are flaxseed, lobelia, and golden seal; leek boiled in milk; sour dock, hyssop and green fennel; ground ivy and yarrow; carrot; potato. [sNH p.1] Poultices: Over the abscess area put a poultice of three parts slippery elm bark and one part lobelia herb. A poultice of hops or a poultice of hot onions, hot pumpkins, or hot (not cooked) tomatoes is equally effective. After the abscess has burst, cover it with a poultice or fomentation of comfrey leaves or roots (powdered) for fast healing. [HHH p.25] Burdock Root: One of the best blood-purifying teas is burdock root (Arctium lappa). Others are chaparral (creosote bush) (Larrea tridentata), Oregon grape root (Berberis aquifolium), and red clover blossoms (Trifolijm pratense). Poultices: A poultice of hops or a poultice of hot onions, hot pumpkin or hot (not cooked) tomatoes are equally effective. After the abscess has burst, cover it with a poultice or fomentation of comfrey leaves or root (powdered or if fresh finely chopped-- triturated--for fast healing). Dosage: Be generous in making poultices, covering the afflicted areas very thickly. An abscess as it ripens will get larger and continue to expand until it bursts open and drains. After the pus and solid matters are nearly drained off, fluid--sometimes bloody--will run from the abscess. This is when you put on the comfrey poultice, or fomentation. Blue Vervain: Made into a poultice with flaxseed meal, using a strong infusion of Blue Vervain instead of plain hot water, it helps promote the relief of rheumatism, neuralgia, sciatica, etc. (ShoA:276). This poultice helps to draw out boils, abscesses, and is especially useful to reduce swollen glands, a common ailment in these days of pollution and debilitated foods. Use this poultice for earache and ear abscess as well. Apply the tea externally to sores. [NL 5-10] Hope something helps your daughter! =o( Tracy in Ohio
Guest guest
Please do SOMEthing SOON. A lady friend has a co-worked who gangrene on his derrierre for a boil just like that. He spent three weeks in the hospital. Try warm epsom salt baths, and moist heat compresses 3-4 times a day, for 20 minutes each time. Colloidal silver topically. Charcoal capsules opened and made into a paste will draw out he pus. honey is an antibacterial. So far as I know, boils are a staph infection. Eat garlic like crazy, as that is the best antibiotic. Maybe even apply it to the boil. But eat ALLOT. Also, the boil needs air to dry..I know how bad it sounds but maybe she could stay in her room and wear a t-shirt and no bottoms. ?? No exercise and sweating. When it does finally open and drain, dd really needs to lay around with no undies. :-( I am very modest and I know how hard this might be. Guest guest
Lay her on her tummy and place grated potatoe on it 5 times a day and leave it there for up to an hour longer if you can. It has a pulling effect it will pull the poisen out and then wash it off and put a raw honey bandage over it for in between times. The raw honey is also a poisen remover. Also do sits baths but not in epsomsalts just strong salt water. The kind used for pickling. I have used both for bad infections and they work wonders for me and my children. Give here a tinture made from Yarrow and other antibiotics. Such as garlic and the colloidal silver. Pat m " Do not be afraid of enemies; the worst they can do is to kill you. Guest guest
I agree with the colloidal silver ! I have seen family members that had a terrible "superbug" flesh eating boil that the hospital couldn't get under control and I suggested they use the colloidal silver and it began having results almost immediately. I would keep it covered with gauze to allow it to get air and still be able to drain. I used a strong colloidal silver at 500ppm. just my opinion...... Guest guest
Thank you everyone for the info so far. Hers is actually 2-3 inches further down, between her buttocks, which really makes it hard to heal. It had opened up again this morning, do boils normally leave a hole when they burst? One doctor on the internet recommended lots of essential oils as in flax, fish, EPO, Borage, etc. I know she needs those, so we will definitely increase her intake. We have done most of those things recommended over time. Especially the colon/liver cleansing, detoxing, coloidal silver, vit. E, lavender, coconut oil, we've tried tomato, which seemed to help bring it to a head this time, banana peel, egg membrane, onion, she's taken burdock and red clover for quite a while, nutmeg, eaten lots of onions, until her digestive system couldn't stand anymore, beet juice and beet kvass, soaking baths with Dead Sea salt, epsom salts, ACV, etc. Yesterday she sat in a Celtic sea salt water " sitz " bath for an hour at least. She's put iodine on it (stung and itched), etc. etc. And mega doses of Vit. C. That girl can take 50,000 grams or more a day and not have an intestinal flush reaction! We keep talking about trying to get a Vit. C IV for her, to saturate her body with it. She takes after her father and is prone to boils (he was when a child), she has had them behind her ears, on her upper back, (in the past, not recently) etc. He told her to eat lots of raisins because that's what he was told when he was young, but I figured out that since we have bought organic raisins for years and they aren't sulphured, they wouldn't do much. I recently ordered some MSM in bulk and thought that might help her too. It hasn't arrived yet. She has a history of constipation, that's why we've worked on the cleanses. We added Kombucha and Kefir to our diet in the past year as well. Tracy, I looked up pilonidal cyst, I don't know if that is what it is. We'll definitely put a comfrey poultice on it. I do have that. Thanks Flo, she does wipe it with something or other- coloidal silver, coconut oil, lavender, as soon as it starts bothering her. We understand the danger of if getting infected. She read in the Balch's book " Prescription for Nutrional Healing " about letting it dry, and doesn't see how she can lay around in her bed for any length of time. We are modest too, she more than I, so it will be difficult. Thank you again, Debbie in TX
Guest guest
Hi, I know how the suferer feels if the boil in the plae described you. It is simple to treat it permenantly. Grind a big and raw potato in the mixer with its skin. add 5 flakes of garlic and 1/4 tsp. cayanne powder and 1 tsp. honey. Take it over oc thick cotton cloth and apply it as a poultice over the boil. Let it remain there for an hour. Remove the poultice and apply pure honey. After an hour clean it and apply the poultice again. this time keep it for two hours. Do this process through out the day. Also give Hepar sulf, a homeopathic remedy in 200 potency every hour for a day. Hope by the next day morning, things would have improved sarisfactorily. Guest guest
Hello Debbie, You mention in another email that she's done detox. Has she done the kidney detox? If the kidney is not functioning well, the body will use the skin to push out the toxins! love Lisa - mckdlee herbal remedies Tuesday, August 02, 2005 9:02 PM Herbal Remedies - Need help with a horrible boil!!! Guest guest
Garlic internally is definitely a good idea. If the boil has already opened, I wouldn't recommend garlic on it. Garlic is the "herbal knife" and could be used in a poultice to open the boil, but isn't needed after it's open and you don't want to "cut" any more than you have to! :)Kelli herbal remedies [herbal remedies ] On Behalf Of FloTuesday, August 02, 2005 6:17 PMherbal remedies Subject: Re: Herbal Remedies - Need help with a horrible boil!!! Guest guest
Thank you again for the great advice! Since I'm on the digest, I didn't read the more recent ones until after we were already trying new things. I wanted to try the potato, but we haven't had the opportunity to let her lay around! Here is an update: We did powder some comfrey root and mix with water to make a poultice. We've applied that twice, once for a few hours with heat and all night (last night). It looks SO much better already! We mixed a few drops of tea tree oil and lavender ess. oil with water in a small bottle and she wipes it with that several times a day. She's been taking many thousands of grams of Vit. C. We've done detoxing and cleansing over the last year, it's time to do another round. The last time we cleansed our livers she had the most horrible herx reaction. She was sick for about 3 weeks- a textbook case. We just kept on and let it run its course, we figured we might as well milk it for all it was worth. That's when she was doing a lot of baths and infrared saunas, etc. She's always been the child to get the strange ailments, etc. She's also the one who had the scary reaction to her first DPT shot. If only I'd known then what I know now! She contracted whooping cough a few years ago, and has never been the same since, as far as general constitution. We've been concentrating on her health for over a year now, ever since we figured out that we were both suffering from low thyroid (Wilson's Thyroid Syndrome). It was time for detoxing and cleansing anyway, I hadn't done it in years, and she never really had before. Thanks again, Debbie in TX
