Guest guest
Interesing... You should find out if you have estrogen dominance... I know I had estrogen dominance (it is much better now than it was) because when I drank tea of hops flowers, I got depressed. Hops do have that phyto-estrogen thing. Thats how I found out that I must have or have had estrogen dominance. I was reading about chlorella on a site and then I clicked on the cancer link there on that site and then breast cancer, and then I saw a link that said low progesterone, estrogen dominance, clicked it and came over a very interesing site about estrogen dominance... By the way, remember my friend with breast cancer? Everything went very well with her. She got rid of the tumor, they replaced the space with salt water bag, so she have her breast :-) and she was told she have estrogen dominance, thats why she got the tumor. She have said no to the medicine that is removing estrogen and is finding alternative therapies instead. I sent her that site about estrogen dominance. Detoxifying is obviously very important in this because of this: " Another major factor contributing to this imbalance between estrogen and progesterone is the industrialized world now live in, immersed in a rising sea of petrochemical derivatives. They are in the air, food and water and include pesticides and herbicides (such as DDT, dieldrin, heptachlor, etc.) as well as various plastics (polycarbonated plastics found in babies bottles and water jugs) and PCBs. These estrogen-mimics are highly fat-soluble, not biodegradable or well excreted, and accumulate in the fat tissue of animals and humans. These chemicals have an uncanny ability to mimic natural estrogen and thus are given the name " xeno-estrogens " since, although they are foreign chemicals, they are taken up by the estrogen receptor sites in the body, seriously interfering with natural biochemical activity. Drinking sodas out of plastic bottles is one of the leading causes of estrogen dominance. Guest guest
Sounds like your hormones are out of wack. I would recommend the Female Formula, and stopping your medication. Medications may be a good "quickfix" to reduce the immediate symptoms, but do nothing to handle the problem itself, and can be destructive for your organs. Female Formula will re-balance your hormones, and in fact do this very fast! love Lisa - bluecruiserme herbal remedies Friday, July 15, 2005 3:46 AM Herbal Remedies - Medication Question I have struggled most of my life with mild depression. Coinciding with my menstrual cycles. After the birth of my children this problem became SEVERELY worse!! I was finally tired of being told to "snap out of it" and seeked psychiatric help. I was diagnosed with bi-polar and prescribed several medications. The combination that seems to work is 30mg of Lexapro and 400mg of Tegretol. Since this treatment began my mental clarity is clear and my stress level has decreased. However, I have gained about 30lbs., eat almost constantly and have little energy. To this I have begun taking a multi vitamin, super B complex, fish oil, and just this week added Mangosteen juice. I still have mild mood swings monthly and would like to know if there is something I can do to have my "normal" days everyday.
Guest guest
Thank you for your opinion. I would like to look into this as an option. Since I am new to the idea of herbal remedies I have a couple of specific questions. Where would I get the Female Formula - or is it a combination of things? And, in your opinion would you take this for a few days with the meds and then gradually taper off the meds? Blessings, MichelleLisa de Haas <lisa wrote: Sounds like your hormones are out of wack. Guest guest
Hi Michelle, that depends on how long you've been taking the meds. If only a few days, then you could probably just stop. If for a long time, then you'd need to taper off gradually I would think. The Female Formula is one tincture made with various herbs. The formula is in the files on our website. You can also buy it ready made - you'd need to contact Doc off-list and he could help you get some. love Lisa - Michelle Seymour herbal remedies Friday, July 15, 2005 2:23 PM Re: Herbal Remedies - Medication Question Thank you for your opinion. Guest guest
You sound JUST like me. I had a very bad case of it (mostly the depression) last month, so I am on a mission to get myself healthy. Besides trying to drink lots of water & exercise, I have begun taking Vitex (chasteberry, which I believe is in one or more of the Doc's fem formulas) and I have begun using a natural progesterone cream. (I believe I have estrogen dominance too.) I am going to take some Evening Primrose Oil also. For the depression, I have read that St. John's Wort can work for women w/ depression from pms. But that gives me headaches, so I am looking into other things, like 5htp, samE, and lithium orotate. I also have on hand Passion Flower and Kava Kava, which I am trying out to help calm my anxiety on days when I am super irritable. I have not yet tried any of the Doc's recipes, so I can't speak of them yet. Did you happen to have bad post partum depression too? Hope you are able to find some answers. Guest guest
Lisa, I have a few questions for you. First, when I looked at the female formula recipes, I believe there were several different ones. Which one are you using? Is it the #4 Female Menopause Hormone Balance Formula? Also, could you share a little more of what kind of symptoms you had, and how quickly they cleared up? Guest guest
I have been Bi-polar most of my life, was diagnosed at 16 and I am now 45. This is my story and how I was able to get off of the chemical anti- depressants nearly 9 years ago. After diagnosis, I was prescribed many different drugs, lithium, imapramine, Prozac, buspar, and the only one that seemed to help for a little while was a sedative/antidepressant, that was amytryptiline. It left me feeling like I was trying to fish my thoughts through molasses, even though I was feeling a bit better. I was getting ready to take a test, needed to study, a student from India recommended Gotu Kola to help with the memory. I was taking two capsules, three times a day, and wow yes it helped with the memory, but I also noticed that my moods were balanced, I didn't feel so gloomy, which I had been most of my life. In getting off of the medication, I cut my pills in half for a few weeks, then in quarters before I stopped taking them, but continued taking the Gotu Kola the entire time. I am like everyone I still have my ups and downs, but if nothing else the most impressive comment I received was from my father who only knew that when I was little I was always so sad, it made him cry when we talked for the first time in years, and he could not get over how much happier I am now, life is not perfect, but I can handle it now. Gotu Kola is an adatogen, To be classified as an Adaptogen a plant needs to do three things: *Help normalize bodily functions even when you are unwell *Raise overall, nonspecific, resistance to disease and degeneration - what is called cell-mediated immunity · *Be safe - completely harmless - even when taken for long periods Dietary woes to beware of are caffiene and sugar, make sure to eat a healthy diet, lots of greens, complex carbohydrates, go easy on fatty foods. I hope this will give you something to consider. Terra _Remedies , " bluecruiserme " <bluecruiserme> wrote: > I have struggled most of my life with mild depression. Guest guest
Hi Erica, I do believe it is #4 I am using - I buy mine ready made, so not totally sure. I had hot flushes, fluctuating emotions, night sweats. It only takes a few days to clear them up. I normally take the formula only when I feel the need, and then I take only 2 dropperfuls a day for about a week, and that normally does the trick for about 6 months! I know that each person is different, so you may need more or less of the formula, and it might take you less or more time to handle. I guess it depends on how healthy your body is, and how big the problem is. love Lisa - de Jong family herbal remedies Sunday, July 17, 2005 12:42 AM Re: Herbal Remedies - Medication Question Lisa, I have a few questions for you. Guest guest
Post Partum depression was probably redefined after me! Just Kidding - but yes it was very bad. I took about a year to really bond with my daughter who is now 5. Thanks for sharing. Just hearing that I am not so alone already makes me feel a little better and I will look into your suggestions.
