Guest guest
This is really hard to explain. I have really sensitive skin to touch. I am female and I can't hardly stand to wear bras. I can wear one for about 4 hours and then my skin just starts to crawl and I have to keep adjusting my bra until I can get home and take it off. I can't wear high collar shirts and many clothes bother me to the point where I HAVE to take them off and put something else on. But some days are worse than others. Shoes bother my feet and I can only wear certain types of socks. I have been driving down the road and I have had to pull over and take off my shoes. I have had this problem all my life but it is worse some days than others. I have been going to a Naturopathic Doctor and she says it is a Miasm, but I have been on her program for 6 months and I have not seen any improvement in this condition. I have seen improvements in other conditions I have. Does anyone have any experience with this or know of anything to help this. Some days I feel like I am going out of my mind. Thanks in advance for any sugestions. Carol
Guest guest
what you are describing sounds like sensory integration disfunction, hypersensitive tactile. Basically that means that your skin is more sensitive, but there is occupational therapy that helps you deal with it. when one way of sensing things is off, the others are off too. I have a daughter with SI disfunction, and you are sounding like a classic case. ramona Quoting Carol <craftifox2: > This is really hard to explain. > I have really sensitive skin to touch. I had to switch all my skin-hair care/cosmetics to 100% natural to eliminate the chemicals in them that were causing me problems. When the fabrics rub the skin, the chems in the skin care etc are rubbed into the skin which can cause inflammation. For the clothing, I had to switch to a natural dye/fragrance-free detergent and eliminate ALL the other laundry aids. I use either vinegar or baking soda in the rinse as a " fabric softener " . Most laundry aids include chemicals that are designed to remain the in fabric..... again, when these chemicals start to rub the skin, and/or the skin starts to sweat, the chems can irritate and inflame the skin. I had to switch to natural fabrics like cotton/silk/ramie/linen/hemp etc and get rid of all the synthetic petro/plastic fabrics like " acrylic " etc. The synthetics drive my skin crazy. Synthetic fabrics cling to the skin, generate the " static cling " shocks, and do not allow the skin to breathe either. I do wash new clothing (and bedding) 2 or 3 times before wearing them, to get out the formaldehyde finishes they use on them. I also avoid all the " permanent " type treatments they use in clothing/bedding.... such as " stain repellents " , " wrinkle- resistance " , " antibacterials " , and " flame retardants " . They use alot of chemicals in shoes too, so most of my shoes are fabric types that I throw in the washing machine a time or 2 before I wear them. (sneakers and/or moccasin types) If they are shoes that can't be washed, letting them air out for awhile before wearing them helps, and/or setting them out in the sunshine helps to break down the chems too. Sometimes I will take a cotton ball dampened with vinegar, and swipe out the inside of the shoes to quicken the chemical breakdown process. Wearing " cotton " socks (washed without chemical detergents/softeners etc) helps the shoes to be more tolerable too, as it will add a protective barrier between the shoes and the skin. Hope this helps.... Jan / Michigan
Guest guest
Oh, so thats why I itch on my feet if I walk with bare feet in slippers or something similar several hours? Duh... I have done same as Jan, except I didnt think about the shoes. But I have instinctively used cotton socks most of time. Very seldom I use shoes without socks. Welcome to this planet full of chemicals.....
