Hello Good People!

I'm so glad to have found this group. I have learned a great deal

already. I need your help with a couple of things.

First: My mother, 65, is diabetic. She is having great problems with

burning/tingling in her left leg and foot. She was diagnosed with

peripherial neuropathy (sp?). Does anyone know of a natural help for

this? She is taking a medicine for it (the name escapes me at the

moment) but it does not help. She also has done a great deal in

lifestyle modification and has her sugar level pretty much under

control but this leg thing is really getting to her.

Second: What natural help can be done for a stye (sp?) in the eye?

I've read through many posts and searched the files but haven't been

successful in these two searches.

help for a stye...

first, an eye exam is in order.

second, make sure that close up work, including

reading, is done in good light.

third,

mix two tablespoons of eyebrite tea with two

tablespoons of golden seal powder.

place the herb in the bottom of a sterilized jar

(boiled for 5 minutes) and then add 1 cup of water.

wipe the eye with 100% sterilized cotton. do not use

the cotton ball for more than one dip into the

sterilized solution. Do this 8 times a day for a

week. end of stye problem.

I don't think it is a ciropractor problem, I think you should have her see a cardi-vascular doctor or maybe a neuro doctor. It sounds like it might be nerve damage or a vascular problem. But as the case may be.. I am not a medical doctor and so maybe it helped your friend but it might be a totally different problem for your mom. Especially since you say she is a diabetic!"Pat M." <bogduck wrote:

Thank you all for the suggestions! As it turns out, she has seen a

doctor for the neuropathy, an endocrinologist I think. He's the one

that prescribed the medicine for her leg.

I've been researching whatever I can to find a food/herb that would

maybe help with the burning sensation. She's very active and this

condition cuts down on her activities plus makes her cranky - as I

think I would be with a constant irritation.

Re: the stye. My 20 yr old college daughter is prone to styes and has been for about the last four years. I forget where I found it, but the answer was that the body is deficient in Vit. A. When she has one starting, she takes 25,000 IU's of a Vit. A soft gel twice a day, and it is gone the next day. (We use the emulsified form.) It seems like when there is more stress in her life and her immune system goes down a bit, that's when it happens. She tries to take one about once a week when she remembers.

After knowing about this for my daughter's problem, my chiro told me that when one has a sore throat to take three soft gels of Vit. A (equals 75,000 IU's) twice a day. (One should not do this more than 2 or 3 days.) He explained that Vit. A protects the mucous membranes. So, that probably ties in with the eye protection also. I had a sore throat once for four days that none of my normal herbs/vitamins would help. I did the Vit. A regime, and honest, my sore throat was gone in 20 minutes--it only took one dose for me. I think this worked so quick for me since I had been taking all my other supplements religiously for the four days.
