Have you tried Tea Tree essential oil?

Ann

Ok...last question, I promise! >:o)

My dh has major toenail fungus. He has tried the prescription meds for the

fungus and does not tolerate them well. He has even had the infected tonails

removed, but they grew back like nothing happened.

Does anybody have any suggestions for what he can do to rid himself of this

fungus or even lessen it??? It's driving him crazy to look at it.

Thanks so much!

Kati

Hey Ann,

Yes, we have tried that...it didn't work. But then, maybe we didn't do it

often or long enough....dh has a hard time with maintenance.

This is just so frustrating!

Take care! Kati

You do need to stick at it. Maybe apply 3 times a day and don't expect a result

inside 2 - 3 weeks, then still keep at it for a while!!

Dear Kati,

I know from personal experience that toenail fungus can be very frustrating. I

had a major infection for years on end. In fact, a couple of my toenails are

still infected somewhat. The drug which almost cured me is called FLUCONAZOLE. I

used to take one 150 mg tablet twice a week initially then reduced it to one a

week when the infection lessenned in about three months. I do not know under

what brand name this drug is sold in the US. Do check with your doctor first.

You can also try homeopathy. There are some wonderful remedies available.

Fluconazole is used in the US; the brand-name is Diflucan. Tough stuff on

the liver, though.

I have heard it takes up to six months of doing it once or twice a day. ie, for

the new treated toenail to grow out. Also, heard that besides Tea Tree Oil,

that Cider Vinegar applied by the drop to a toenail works well. I have a

toenail that has fungus too(just started), and thought about alternating the two

treatments, so as not to sensitize my toe to either. Will let ya'll know how it

works. A question though. I know I shouldn't use Tea Tree Oil neet. What

carrier oil could I use, that won't add to the problem. Would emu or grapeseed

or rosehip work as a carrier that wouldn't make the problem worse by providing a

growth medium for the fungi?

Thanks,

Have to say, in this instance, I would use it neat and apply with a cotton bud

to the affected area.

just put vicks vaporub on your toenails every night (home made version

should work just as well, too) and wear cotton socks to bed. it takes a

month or so to notice a difference, and the toenail will have to grow out,

but it's supposed to work!

I used to work for a podiatrist. One lady told me that she ridded

herself of toenail fungus by buffing the shiny part of the nail off

with a little dremmel tool(a round file on a drill). This made the

toenail permeable....then she applied clear iodine to them. Not sure

how long she had to do it.

Let us know if you try it and how it works.

My hubby has been using Peppermint Foot Goo that my girlfriend makes

for his cracked feet and it has been helping his fungused toe. He

showed me last night how much improved it was after only 2 weeks. i

know it can take a year to get rid of it but he has to use the stuff on

his feet anyway. He is sensitive to tea tree so can't use it.

Goodluck.

I've been on no mail for awhile and just started reading again, so I'm jumping in on the middle of this discussion. Please forgive me if I am repeating somebody else.

Apple Cidar Vinegar. That will kill it. Soak the digit 20 minutes a day for two weeks. It will take longer for the nail to grow out, but the fungus should be dead by then.

It worked for my MIL and it has worked for me.

I feel the best way to attack toe nail fungus externally is to soak your foot in hot water with like a cup of apple cider vinegar in it. Do this 2-4 times a week.

Then put some kind of natural anti-fungal on it daily. Tea Tree Oil, Grapefruit See Extract, Black Walnut hulls (this is messy though)..

Here is a great treatment: 1/2 tsp 50-50 combination of oregano and

tea tree essential oils with 4 ounces of 20 percent urea cream, apply

two times a day. Cover the nail with a bandage the first week only.

Urea gets THROUGH the nail. 2-4 months should work. Oregano is more

powerful than tee tree!!
