Do any of you have any recommendations for anxiety

relief for my dog? A tree fell on our house last night

and scared my dog terribly. It was also thundering so

she has been shaking ever since. She is a bit neurotic

to begin with and now she's worse.

Thanks!

lots of love and Bach's rescue remedy..I have a neurotic dog- we call her nervous nellie and anything is liable to set her off. We mix rescue remedy in water and mist the air so that the scent soothes her. There are days when she won't eat because it storms and she is scared so she just won't eat or drink for two days because she is scared to go out..then we found rescue remedy, and that is what the holistic vet uses on her--cause she also hates strangers. Weird dog, huh?

She is the only dog I ever had that does not like people, but they say all dogs of her breed are One-person-dogs.

You could try Bach Flower Remedy Creme or Drops, if cream rub on the

stomach, if drops a couple of drops under the tongue.

My Mom-in-law uses RESCUE REMEDY. She has a small dog that is terrified of thunder - Vet said 3 drops under tounge. I find it easier to measure & give by adding it to water in a medicine cup. A dog trainer told me that when you go out leave the TV/radio on. This works for my dog. She was tearing up the house whenever we left her alone. Good Luck!"J. Sweigart" <sweigart1 wrote:

Thanks for all the advice! The vet did recommend

Benedryl (which I did buy and give her one) but like

myself, I would prefer not to give her medicine. It

did seem to break the cycle of anxiety so she seems

pretty happy today. I will have to give her something

when they come to take the tree off the house (yep

it's still sitting up there while we get things worked

out with insurance) because of the noise. She is the

most wonderful, loving dog but she gets scared easily.

I will look for the Bach Flower Remedy Creme or Drops

and give them a try.

the bach remedy drops are alcohol based. It burns my tongue and entire mouth so badly and actually irritates my taste buds. That is why we mix about a tbsp in a cup or so of water, put it in a sprayer and mist the air ..It works for "worked up people" like me too when I get agitated. I actually carry a spray bottle in my purse so I can take the edge off when I find a crisis (which only happens maybe about twice a year, but I like to be prepared)
