Guest guest
I'm very glad to see that there are others on this list who have gone the route of unassisted childbirth. My first (and only so far) was born in a hospital with an excellent reputation. My experience there is what finally led me away from the medical world. I have been researching the alternatives since my son was born and have decided that my babies will be born at home, unattended, from now on. I know that I am healthy, strong, educated, and intuitive enough to make this the best choice for me. Could something go wrong? Sure. But the benefits far outweigh the risks, and doctor or midwife interference, even in " unusual circumstances " or " emergency situations " is almost always more harmful than helpful. My only concern at this point is the well-meaning people who I know will not accept my decision no matter what I say. So I've been afraid to voice my decision even on this list of open-minded individuals. This is a big step in taking responsibility for my own health and well- being, and I feel an important one. I have a question for those of you with children who are taking responsibility for their healthcare in traditional but unconventional ways. (i.e. doctor-free, uninsured, non-vaccinated, herbal treatment, and/or homebirthers [especially unassisted]) How do you deal with reactions from other people, particularly family members, that find your methods careless, foolish, and dangerous? I can explain my decisions till I'm blue in the face, provide a mountain of references to back me up, and some people (read my mother-in-law) will still insist that I'm wrong because of something they think they heard or read somewhere or just because " Everyone knows the best way to go about this is... " Also has anyone ever had to deal with government interference, i.e. child or family services, because they refused to follow a modern, conventional healthcare model? Thank you in advance for your input, Rachele
Guest guest
you will always find someone that is going to disagree on the way you choose to live your life on no matter what subject it is. the thing you need to do is just get your facts and no matter what anyone says if you know in your heart what you are doing is right then don't worry what other people think or say. Guest guest
I think you should be able to voice your opinion on this list even though others may not agree . We all have different life experiences. I am open to everything you all have to say. I can not imagine having a baby by myself because I have never done it, and I only have one. It scares me, but there are woman who go out in the field, have thier baby, and then go back to work..I personally think to be on this list we should all be open to what others say . I am happy you all share your experiences with me. I do not think others should be made to feel bad if they do take prescriptions, have their baby in a hospital, etc, .In other words, no one should be afraid to say what they want in fear of being bashed. I hope you all do not mind me saying this. Thank you. Guest guest
There are people who have been taken to court because they have not vaccinated their children. But Dr. David Christopher of the School of Natural Healing has mentioned to his public that if this ever happens or if they know of it ever happening to someone they know to get a hold of him and he'll help them out. He has a radio show in Utah and talked about this subject and how there is so much evidence that if you simply get someone with these references in the courthouse then the case will be thrown out. There are so many bad side effects of drugs and vaccines that it is truly an important life line to have someone to go to when the doctor at the hospital says he'll call Child Protective services if you don't vaccinate. So there are people you can go to. The website is: www.schoolofnaturalhealing.com Get a contact number and ask who to go to or what books they may have in regards to vaccinations and the laws that surround it. Guest guest
I totally agree and to much of my awe I yet again have offended someone. But so is the fact of life. I could offend the lady next door for letting my 15 month old walk around in just a diaper when the weather is nice. Or the neighbor across the street because I dont always pick up our lawn toys. Or.. you get the picture.. Life is life and being open to all things makes us not only wiser but free-er (is that a word ?) Guest guest
Your next door neighbor sounds like she needs to get a life. To be honest with you all, I get tired of always trying to please others. Life is to be enjoyed. I do think that is why I am healthy because I spend so much time laughing and being silly. I am quite mischievous at times though. - Deana Brown herbal remedies Tuesday, May 24, 2005 10:45 PM Re: Herbal Remedies - Childbirth choices I totally agree and to much of my awe I yet again have offended someone. Guest guest
Just as a note, my kids were never vaccinated. They’re now 25 and 20 and never got any of those diseases. I, however, have always suspected that the reason one of my legs is a bit shorter than the other may be due to the polio shots I got as a kid. Guest guest
Same chances as if your child was I believe. I do not remember where I heard this so it could have been a figment of my imagination. I say this so no one thinks I know where I got this data from. I do not. I have listened to several lectures from David & Fawn Christopher whom runt he School of natural healing. So… unsure whether or not this a point. I seem to remember that it was more dangerous to get the vaccination that not too seeing as there have only been 4000 people whom caught polio last year compared to the billions of people in America. So the chances of getting Polio are so thin as not to be noted compared to the hundreds of thousands of people who have had vaccination side effects. Think about it.
