Guest guest
I have been feeling really icky the past three to four days from weaning off the thyroid medicane and today I slept 4hours this afternoon and got really sick from the detox. My son has been very very iritabile too. The Colon cleanse I still wasnt achieving three bowel movements a day after 8 days on the cleanse. So I know this will upset some of you but I stopped the herbals and started back on my levoxythyroxine today. Within one hour of taking it I felt a million times better. I had energy and felt less brain foggy. I am not sure it is possible for me to heal this right now while nursing. I am going in to see my endocrinologist on Monday to talk her into lowering the dose as I truely believe it was causing my hyperness, irritability, and Insomnia. All the sleep herbs and even prescribed sleep aides were not working to help me sleep. I just thought it funny though that now I can sleep so easily while I had been off of the thyroid medicane. But. no one can seem to give me answers of safety while nursing and taking herbs and I truly think they are coming through the milk and making him so very very cranky. Hugs and will stay in touch. Guest guest
Deana, I am new here but have been reading about your struggle with your thyroid. Personally, I adjust my own meds (Levoxyl, Armour combo) to how I feel. Many people have found that they need to increase in the fall (body needs more energy to keep warm) and decrease as the weather gets warm. Perhaps that is why you have felt hyper. I do not involve the doctor in my adjustments. I do have blood work done each year but keep the same prescription strength and just use a pill splitter to change dosages. I am lucky because I was initially diagnosed by a doctor who looked at symptoms and that is what I use now to determine med strength. Guest guest
I think that if you were going thur detox and he is nursing he was detoxing also. and yes new thing will tend to make a little one cranky the breastmilk probably tasted funny. I would lower the dosage and take some valerian root. Guest guest
I went in to see my endocrinologist today and she said she thought I was crazy to have my dose lowered but if thats what I wanted she would do it .. So the went down to 112mcg instead of the 125mcg. I start the 112 tomorrow. I told her I have been doing some research and would like to find out what caused my hypothyroid in the first place. Choices I told her that I would like evaluated: Adrenal Exhaustion - from Chronic Stress and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis - http://www.4woman.gov/faq/hashimoto.htm She looked at me and said straight out, " Does it really matter to you what caused it? " and I told her it absolutely does. She fought with me tooth and nail about doing other tests. She refused to do any t3/t4/tsh testing for 6weeks untill the medication is back in my system that long. She said from looking at me today she doubts I have adrenal exhaustion but if I want them to test it then they will and they would need me there for at least an hour to hook me up to an IV and then add medication into the iv that checks to see if the adrenal gland is functioning. NOTE they didnt say functioning properly. I said well cant you check to see if my body is producing TOO much adrenalin (the fight or flight I feel all the time). OR the Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. She said I definately dont think you have that but ... and never answered. So she told me to come in tomorrow for the adrenal test and I asked if she would do the Hashimoto's Thyroiditis test then also and she kinda nodded. Like she was trying to avoid it. I am annoyed and appauled. On another note, Derek was cranky not from my detox but because he has ear infection in both ears which he never had before. Is that odd that he would get them while I was detoxing?? Confused yet again and stuck between a rock and hard place unsure of wich way to turn. Deana J. Guest guest
Keep going Deana. Ear infections are not new for babies, I had them throughout my childhood. They're like a bad cold for adults almost. Keep eating well, drinking lots of water and pushing for your tests and getting more information. Guest guest
Well put Irene. Very well put. Thank you, Zeb p.s. Deana you’re a strong girl but know this, I am known for jumping into anything with all four feet. LOL, I have too extra I commit myself so fully. But I have not abused my body as you have. So there are other points of view that are better in some areas than my own. I wish you luck with your tests today. I think you need to calm down and work on getting a healthier immune system before weaning off the thyroid meds. It has taken me five years to get to the point where I feel comfortable working on my thyroid. Stress is very bad for your thyroid and immune system, and I think at this point in your life you need to take some time to enjoy the baby and learn to relax. You can and will be able to wean yourself from all meds, but slow down a little. Irene
Guest guest
Deana,I read your journal entry. No doubt you have had a tough life and that is affecting your immune system. You're a strong woman and you will get better. It will take some time --- you didn't get this way in a day so don't expect to get well in two or three weeks. My suggestion is that you continue your thyroid meds for now, but work harder on getting your immune system healthier. Use Doc's Total Tonic to start. Eliminate all refined sugars, grains, dairy products, and I would try to eliminate as much meat as possible from your diet. Try to find time to spend by yourself and relax everyday. I know this is difficult with children, but I feel this is important. You have to forget about your past --- do not blame yourself. Take each day as gift and live it fully. Learn to love yourself and value yourself. You are doing a great job but you need more time to heal both physically and mentally. It's take time, but you can do it.I had a bad childhood. Lost my natural birth parents at the age of four (mother murdered father). My mother was in prison and of course my father was dead. I was placed with an abusive aunt that only wanted us for the money she could collect. I survived, but my younger sister took about the same road as you. She turned to street drugs. She is still having a lot of problems at the age of 48. She has kicked the alcohol, but she refuses to give up the 'pot. She takes a lot of prescription meds and is just now starting to change her opinion of the medical profession. She is beginning to realize she is responsible for her health and life. I was very sick about six years ago. I had two exploratory surgeries that didn't confirm what was wrong. I was told I probably had cancer or at one time they said lupus. It was about this time I decided the doctors were not going to make me better. I started researching alternative health and I'm happy to say that I only go to the doctor now once a year for blood work. He told me at my last visit I was doing better healing myself than he could do. He said he would support me in any way he could, but he couldn't recommend any natural treatments other than those recognized by the AMA (like fish oil). He said due to my improvements in my health, he is starting to read more natural health books and listening to cds while he is driving for his own health and his family's health. So I at least think I have a MD (which my insurance will cover) that understands my desire to heal myself without the drug companies involvement. I have stopped my thyroid meds for over a week now. I'm still doing well. I'm doing only Dr. Christopher's lower bowel formula, the thyroid maintenance formula, and the glandular formula. My colon is not healthy so I decided to only work on that issue at the moment. I hope in a month or so to do the rest of the cleanse I purchased from Dr. Christopher. Next time I'm going to try Doc's formula. One of these days, I will get this colon working properly. I'm also going to add Doc's Total Tonic to my daily effort in the near future. I wish you luck with your tests today. I think you need to calm down and work on getting a healthier immune system before weaning off the thyroid meds. Guest guest
I learn something every day :-) Thank you for sharing with me, it never dawned on me that the seasonal weather would have an effect on my temperature and thyroid level but duh, that is so such common sense it just slipped over my head. LOL :-D Is a pill splitter available in like a Walgreens. ? Thank you again for more wisdom to add to my memory bank by the way!) Hugs Deana J. Guest guest
It would be very rare to even find a doctor who thinks about the extra energy your body needs to keep warm in the winter. You can get a pill splitter at any pharmacy - just ask. >>I learn something every day :-) Thank you for sharing with me, it never dawned on me that the seasonal weather would have an effect on my temperature and thyroid level but duh, that is so such common sense it just slipped over my head.
