I believe it can be good for pain relief in some cases, and it probably has its place somewhere, but I would never recommend it for depresson. I spent many years in a dope smoking community, where it was just considered normal, and I never saw it really do anyone any good. I saw children die, mainly through in the end parental neglect because of their being out of touch with reality, and I saw adults manifest latent schizophrenia, to the point of spending many months in institutions. I never managed to enjoy the stuff, myself, though I tried to, it would send me off balance for weeks. And it always made me depressed, awfully. I believe marijuana represses emotions, and causes a desensitisation and numbness, as well as an altered psychic state, which in the end doesn't help anyone. It just pushes away the issues, the same as pharmaceuticals. Excuse the strength of my response, please, but I have seen too many deaths of young people (yes, really) and too much wasted life as a direct result of marijuana use. I do not believe it to be harmless at all, as it is generally used. Peela Australia
Guest guest
Doesn't smoking dope kill our brain cells? I know of some people who smoke dope, and they are not all there. - peela herbal remedies Wednesday, May 11, 2005 7:39 AM Herbal Remedies - Re: Marijuana for depression was St John's Wort >RE: St. John's wort>>I hope it doesn't cost me the ban for this group. Guest guest
Peela - I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of marijuana. I am lucky in that I've never cared for drugs or alcohol - I did some recreational at parties when I was in my 20s (no hardcore stuff like acid) just pot and a little cocaine ... I didn't care for it much and could always set a low/extremely reasonable limit. After finding out what the aftermath was - it was easy for me to say no to it. I realize not everyone is this fortunate. There have only been about two times that I actually looked for pot - and that was when some form of emotional catastrophe happen and I desperately wanted to numb out - suppress the emotions. Marijuana doesn't help depression - it just changes the reason for the behavior - it is easier to zone out from being spaced out than it is to be zoned out and feeling the emotional heaviness that comes from depression. I too have seen too many people waste too many years from this so called " harmless " recreational drug. I am sure there are some who can handle it, just as there as some who can drink excessively and still function (that is aside from the physical deterioration it causes.) St. John's Wort is a much safer and better alternative all the way around - plus it's legal and affordable. Guest guest
My experience with this issue is that I have an older brother who smoked marijuana. He started at age 15. He is now 44. But, his mentally capabilities are stuck at age 15....For me, this stuff destroyed our family mentally and emotionally. I think it has been proven to give relief to people that have chronic pain with illnesses like cancer, etc.....I'm not sure about the depression side of it...I'm just not willing to go there after what I lived through growing up. herbal remedies , peela <peela@i...> wrote: > > >RE: St. John's wort > > > >I hope it doesn't cost me the ban for this group.
