Guest guest
Could i pour them over a cheese clothe laying on a wire tea mesh asnd let it drip and then fold close and squeeze the remaining liquid inti the bottle ? If so would i discard the herbs in the cheese clothe or add them back to the bottle for more brewing? I put a wire mesh strainer over a wide mouthed glass measuring cup and let the liquid drip in. I then squeeze the pulp with my clean hands to get it as dry as I can, and let all that drip into the cup. I discard the pulp after that. I stopped using a cotton cheese cloth as a filter because everything stuck to it and it was a mess for me. Any kind of fliter made of paper just broke on me. so I just use my hands. Guest guest
Yes. Yes. Yes. And about the moon, I have no clue. I make sure all my tinctures are perking for art least 2-4 weeks. That's good enough for me. I let my mash (used herbs) sit in a strainer until its all dripped out, Then I twist it in a cheese cloth or whatever I have readily to hand. Remember this is for home and family use, if you're selling it it's another matter. Hope that helps love. Guest guest
Yes, the new moon is typically on the calendar with the full moon (as are the quarter moons, sometimes). New Moon was yesterday, May 8th. Next one is June 6th. Guest guest
You can. You can get the potato ricer at a kitchen supply store. You can also squeeze small amounts in a manual citus press. Zeb - here's a question for you .... The manager of my local health food store says that she sometimes re- juices pulp and always gets a little more liquid out. I'm wondering if it would work to juice the total tonic herbs. herbal remedies , Deana Brown <squeekyme@c...> wrote: > when making a tincture the recipes state to press the herbs using a Beer > Press, a Potato Ricer and an organic cotton canvas clothe I dont own any > if those and have never seen them in our healthe fouud store. > > Could i pour them over a cheese clothe laying on a wire tea mesh asnd > let it drip and then fold close and squeeze the remaining liquid inti > the bottle ? Guest guest
Deana, Juicing the herbs.... not really. What you cannot get out by hand pressing or twisting in a shirt isn't worth the trouble. Also the herbs should have already been blended in a blender prior to tincturing it. So no, in this instance you would not reuse or put through the juicer to get more. You can do this with un tinctured stuff but I've never seen it done after tincturing. But would be an interesting experiment to do everything through a juicer and then tincture all of it, hmm, I'll have to think about that one.
