Guest guest Posted April 29, 2005 Report Share Posted April 29, 2005 I generally don't get Colds or Flus. Non-smokers really don't need to succumb to those common virueses IMO. A broad range of Vitamins/minerals, fresh lemon juice squeezed into water, and paying attention to overall anti-oxidants in the diet is my main thing. I also eat MUCH more fiber than most people, try to stay hydrated, and briskly walk atleast a few blocks at least twice a day, as I prefer to use the city bus instead of oil-war proding automobiles. I think physical labor - to the level of working up a sweat - is important in maintaining the body's own toxin elimination program. If I feel sluggish or weak from having fun that involves alcohol, I work in the garden the next day till I break a sweat - then I know I'll be completely healthy again - and beyond risk of lowered immunity. The brew I enjoy is hand-crafted - and alive, rich in bio-flavinoids. Like Native Americans and many Nordic Ancestors: I prefer a naturally vigorous life and regular Sweats - compared to what I think are harsh, artificial - and potentially damaging methods - and to me these include Fasts and so-called Intestinal Cleanses - that are advocated by so many others on the Internet. (I know some of you disagree - and that many traditions involved Fasting, so no need to go on about your theories - I've probably read them...) More, I think what many people report as Colds or flu is often really just seasonal allergies. Particularly as people age, move less, and experience lowered immune systems, and the air is becoming more and more loaded with irritants. I've reduced my nasal allergy sensitivity also - using hypnotherapy/relaxation, combined with a high anti-oxidant diet, and 200 mgs of Vit C every 4 hours...as a natural decongestant. I also use the Hindu Saline Sinus Rinse if I ever feel I might be at risk of getting a Sinus infection...and have used that method to clear up an acive infection in ONE day. Studies show that this method also *prevents* the Flu. A Google search on Tom's Nose and Saline Rinse will tell you how to do it.
