kitten eye infection

Hi Everybody.

 

I just acquired 2 brand-new kittens that are (I'm guessing) a week and

a half/two weeks old. One of them has puss coming out of it's eye

(the one that's still closed) and it looks like it might be spreading

to the other eye! I looked online and I found something that

recommended putting a goldenseal solution on it, so I was considering

making an infusion a swabbing that on with a cotton ball. Does anyone

else have any other recommendations (besides taking it to the vet; I

don't like the idea of giving them antibiotics at such an early age)?

I have cats of my own, and when they got eye infections as kittens, I used

good old fashion tea bags. Put them in warm water (not too hot) and put

them on the infected eye until the bag gets cold, then soak it again in

warm water. Do this for about 20 min a day. After a couple of weeks it

should clear right up.
