Guest guest
Putting this in perspective. 155 deaths in 30 years across the USA with an average per annum population during this time period of 300,000,000??? That would average out to 15 and a half deaths per year from "suspected abuse" of Ephedra. That's approximately .0000000015% per annum per capita. Over 100,000 Americans die each year from colds and the flu and other "common" illnesses. Over a million die each year from heart disease alone. Over 100,000 die from old age. On the other hand, (A) The number of medical physicians (MD's) in the U.S. is 700,000. (B) (Iatrogenic) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000. © Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171% of the population. (Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health Human Services). Conclusion: Ephedra does not kill people. Medical Doctors DO!!! Utah-based Nutraceutical claimed in its lawsuit thatephedra "has been safely consumed" for hundreds of years.Supplements that included ephedra have been widely used for weight loss andbodybuilding, but have linked to 155 deaths, including that of BaltimoreOrioles pitching prospect Steve Bechler. The FDA ordered the substance offthe market in April 2004.Judge Tena Campbell's ruling sends the matter back to the FDA "for furtherrulemaking consistent with the court's opinion" and keeps the agency fromenforcement action against the companies.FDA officials did not immediately return a call seeking comment.Company president Bruce Hough said the decision is about "protecting thepublic's access to safe and effective dietary supplements."Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1.
