Guest guest
i lost 7 lbs. within one month while taking bladderwrack; i was also doing cardio/strength training/yoga, plus, i stoped with the processed foods -- that only lasted for one month, giving up processed foods. since i began giving into temptations-chips, icecream, cookies, i just stoped taking the bladderwrack. however, i never stoped exercising. In the book,Eating Right For Your Blood Type, the author suggest foods/supplements to aid you in losing weight and types of foods to avoid that may cause you to gain. for type O's he suggest bladderwrack, which contains iron - the iron to increase thyroid hormone production. low thyroid levels cause you to gain weight, retain water, and there are other examples which i don't remember...something about bladderwrack containing kelp, seaweed and tat the herb works best for type O's. herbal remedies , " swangelst2005 " <swangelst2005> wrote: > > > I have heard that bladderwrack helps people to lose weight, I have been > a victim of ephedra ruining my health ecgb also, I am wanting a SAFE > and EFFECTIVE way to lose the pounds without the concequences Thank > you very much and have a nice day. > > Sincerely, > > Samantha Taylor
Guest guest
Samantha, In my opinion, there is no herb or drug that will make you lose weight. You need to change your lifestyle and do a total body cleanse. This will work without any consequences but good health and a thinner body. Guest guest
Hi. Finally something I know about. Here are a few things that will help you 1. Put a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in your water three times a day. This will give you energy and helps decrease your appetite. 2. Garlic is also a good one.Take garlic pills. This helps one lose weight too. I eat every couple hours, and carry snacks with me everywhere. That way I never allow myself to get so hungry. I know it can be a challenge to lose and keep the pounds off. - imclark herbal remedies Tuesday, April 19, 2005 6:26 AM RE: Herbal Remedies - bladderwrack Samantha,In my opinion, there is no herb or drug that will make you lose weight. Guest guest
Irene, I agree with you. Most likely it was the lack of processed foods combined with the exercise that caused the weight loss. Although, bladderwrack like other herbs does help the body to adjust. I've taken bladderwrack and it's good stuff. Samantha, supplements and exercise are necessary and great, but a poor diet will eventually catch up to you. That's true for us all as we age. It's difficult to choose priorities when there are no immediate health problems and you're happy with your weight. It's a matter of what your long range life plans are and whether or not you're willing to wait until there is a problem to make the changes. I wish I'd had this information 20 years ago. BTW, I just took piping hot raisin/cinnamon biscuits out of the oven. MMMmmmm - made with sprouted whole wheat flour, aluminum free organic baking powder, organic raisins/cinnamon, sprouted organic almond milk, organic vanilla, and a touch of stevia. I wanted scones, but didn't want the yeast or the trouble. <s> They didn't take long to make, baked in less than 15 minutes, and they are better than any processed mix I could buy anywhere PLUS they're healthy. I made them 2-bite sized and with a cup of herbal tea make a nice mid-afternoon snack. You don't have to suffer to be healthy! <g> Karen herbal remedies , " imclark@e... Guest guest
Karen these sound positively yummy!!! Can you tell us how to make them? Guest guest
Lisa, Sort of ... I don't measure everything exactly and I'm still messing around with it, but here is the basic recipe. After the first time you can adjust the ingredients to suit your own taste. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Makes 16 2-bite biscuits 2 cups sifted sprouted whole wheat flour 1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum free) 1/2 teaspoon sea salt 1/2 stick organic butter 3/4 cup sprouted almond milk (plus extra) 1 teaspoon organic vanilla extract 1/4 teaspoon stevia powder (or to taste or optional) A bunch of cinnamon (I have it in a shaker bottle and I bet I used maybe 2 tablespoons - you'll know when you have enough. Handful of organic raisins (I haven't measured these either) Sift the flour into a mixing bowl with the baking powder and salt. Sprinkle in the cinnamon and mix- set aside. Add the vanilla and stevia to the milk and set aside. Using fingers, two knives, heavy fork or a pastry blender - cut the butter into the flour into very fine particles. Add the milk and stir into the dough enough to make the particles cling together. (It should be a very, very soft dough.) Mix in the raisins, but don't over mix becuase you still have to knead the dough. Add a little more almond milk if the dough is too stiff (I like it moist because I'm making small biscuits and there will be more flour worked in), but you don't want a batter - just soft dough. Turn the dough out on a floured surface and knead for about 1 minute (pushing away and doubling over - this creates layers - lightly sprinkle flour to keep it from sticking without drying out the dough too much). Don't over knead the dough. Pat or roll out. If you want high, fluffier biscuits, the dough should be 1/2-3/4 inch thick (which is what I do). If you want a harder, thin, and crusty biscuit, make it about 1/4 inch thick. Naturally, the whole wheat flour will make a more dense biscuit and won't rise as much as with white flour. Cut rounds or in squares (I pat into a square and cut 4 rows in squares for 16 biscuits.) Place on an ungreased cookie sheet- for crisp biscuits, place far apart; for fluffier biscuits place close together (which is what I prefer). Bake for 12-15 minutes and serve piping hot! The basic biscuit recipe would also be good for adding rosemary or other savory herbs to enjoy with soup or salads. I just haven't got that far yet. Enjoy! Guest guest
Lisa, You're welcome. I don't think I used that much cinnamon. LOL Maybe 2-3 teaspoons, not tablespoons. Let me know if you come up with any good variations, ok? Karen herbal remedies , " Lisa de Haas " <lisa@l...> wrote: > Karen these sound positively yummy!!!
