Guest guest
I have been diagnosed with an I T Band injury in my leg and wondering if anyone else has had this happen. The I T Band runs down the outside of the leg and somehow I hurt mine and when I go for walks it starts hurting after about 10-15mins. I am so depressed because I love walking/hiking and now out of commission and my poor dog looks at me and wonders why. My chiropractor did some deep muscle massage and put electrical stimulation on the area, gave me a couple exercises to do and told me not to go on walks for at least a week at which time I will see her again. I am not in pain at the moment as I have not been walking but I am worried and would like to know if anyone has had this problem and how they handled it, hopefully a positive outcome Thanks hette
Guest guest
Hette, I have crappy IT bands as well. The best thing you can do is keep moving. Keep your hamstrings loose and your abductor and adductor muscles of your hips loose. Staying very flexible doesn't eliminate the problem, but it certainly helps with the pain. Deep tissue massages don't really help me too much, other than loosen my up so I can really stretch. I'd recommend still walking and hiking then doing extensive lower back and hip stretching.
