Hi,

I am Nicole.

I am new to this group.

I need some help.

Anyone know anything that is good for Fibroids.

I also have a bad case of Pica which I am sure aggravates my fibroids

and aids in their growth.

I look forward to any and all answers.

I have not had children and the fibroids will prohibit this. A hysterectomy is not an option for me.

Nicole,

You CAN have children if you have fibroids. I have 2 fairly large

ones. I got pregnant and had a miscarriage (lots of first

pregnancies end in miscarriage). I had some testing done, and they

told me I should really have them removed if I wanted to have normal

pregnancies. Well, I was scheduled to have the surgery, and the day

before my insurance company decided they wouldn't cover it cause it

was pre-existing. So, we decided to put if off for 6 months, and my

husband decided to keep trying for a baby. Well, about 2 months

before we were going to think about the surgery again, I got

pregnant. I carried full term, easy pregnancy, natural labor, and a

beautiful 8 lb boy. When he was 10 months old, I got pregnant again,

another full term, natural labor, 9 lb healthy boy. Everyone is

different, not sure where your fibroid is located in your uterus

(mine are up at the top) or how big, but don't let them tell you

it's impossible to have kids, it IS POSSIBLE!!

Peace,

Laura

I second this- my sister had two fibroids as well, they were big

enough that she looked pregnant even when she was not...and she

conceived without any sort of intervention (besides that of her

husband (SMILE!)) and had a beautiful full term baby girl. I think

she weighed almost six pounds, and was healthy as can be..

She did go through an early menopause, which they said was related

to the fibroids somehow...

Peace,

Khadijah

P.S. Your reply made me smile- I wonderid if it was two fairly large

fibroids, or fairly large children!!

It made me laugh, too. I re-read what I wrote after it had posted.

Either way, it's true!

I wonder sometimes about early menopause also. I'm 42 and things

seem to be starting to get weird, with cycles changing and sometimes

feeling like I have mild hot flashes. I need to look into it.

Yes, I still have them. I think they rarely go away on their own

until menopause when the hormonal changes cause them to shrink. I

believe they've told me my uterus is the size of a 6 or 7 week

pregnancy because of them. And they got a bit larger during my

pregnancies. What have you been told about yours, size wise and

location?

Pica can be a sign of deficiency in iron, zinc and electrolytes,

particularly iron. Fybroids can also cause heavy use of iron,

resulting in even lower stores. Could you get your blood checked?

I have had problems with low iron, and strange eating habits. When I

had iron injections, problem cured! I do not have fibroids to drain

my iron reserves though, with me it is inflammation in the small

intestine. I do not absorb dietry iron well.
