<<<<Also - I am lost as to where to start. I can change MY eating habits

but the rest of the family says the food taste gross- then I get stuck

in this rut of what to buy at the grocery store and how to put it

together to make a meal ( Its really getting me stressed)>>>>

Hi Deana,

I can totally relate, its been an ongoing journey for me for many years,

balancing taking care of my own food preferences while feeding my family, who

have theirs. My husband is strictly vegetarian but only likes a few foods- no

soy, no beans/lentils of any description, hardly any vegetables. He eats heaps

of dairy, but usually in the form of milk on cereal, custardm or icecream! He is

a sugar binger. My kids are just normal kids with many likes and dislikes, and I

am a health freak to them all. I could live on steamed vegies on brown rice,

almost. I sure dont get complimeents aound here for putting healthy food on the

table, no matter how I try to make it taste good. Visitors seem to love my

cooking, but not my famiy. Its not easy.

However, I cant change anyone else but I dont need to eat badly just because no

one else has my tastes. Lately, I steam extra vegetables for myself. I cook

batches of brown rice and keep them in the fridge for myself, then cook the best

quality basmati rice for the family. I simply try and avoid all unhealthy foods

in the house so everyone is forced to eat better stuff, but my husband comes

home with Coke and icecream- what to do.

I give the kids nuts and raw vegies while they do their homeschooling, and make

them herb teas with honey. We have fun making healthy cakes/biscuits/pancakes

together. They eat a lot of fruit.

Its pretty hard when your partner isnt also into it, but dont give up, you just

get very creative about substituting ingredients, making healthy snacks etc.

But, just little changes, one at a time. And, you can still take care of you, in

fact, you just have to as a mum. Theres no point in putting everone else first

and getting sick or always being run down yourself.

I have actually considered writing a book about healthy foods for families,

although there are plenty out there.

glad you got some sleep, isnt it amazing what that can do for your ability to

handle things.

love

Peela
