Flylady works well for me because I don't actually function well in

chaos or mess, yet I didn't really know how to get myself out of those

habits. Now each room in my home is not ever more than 10 or 15 minutes

away from basic tidiness, the laundry is generally up to date, and the

bathrooms are safe for visitors. Thats not perfection, thats

functionality, and it is less stressful for me. It is peaceful, and I

yell less at my kids. And, I dont spend hours cleaning, its just a bit

at a time. I also homeschool 2 kids.

I have gotten rid of tonnes of stuff. I have found that very

psychologically unburdening. I now take better care of myself, including

my diet and herbs, because i am not always overwhelmed and 'catching up'.

Some people feel stressed by mess and clutter, and I am one of them, and

I am grateful to Flylady for the peace of simple routines that I hadn't

thought of, which make all the difference.

 

And no, I dont follow the shoes thing, because we have a shoe free

house. I take what works for me and discard the rest.

I can't imagine wearing the same shoes inside my house that were worn

outside the house.

My goodness, what filth!

 

Everyone who comes to my house knows to wear or bring to wear clean

socks because they will be leaving their street shoes at the door.

 

I have a couple clients who wear orthotics in their shoes. I ask them

to put plastic shopping bags over their shoes as they walk through

the house to the therapy room.
