Guest guest
>>Shoes in the house!!!<< Haha! That's where she lost me too!!!!!!!!!! Not in my house!!!!!!!! And don't get me wrong, I am in no way a neat freak (as much as I would like to be!), but that is sooooooooooooooooooo not happening here. Can you follow her guidelines without your shoes? Kelly Message: 21 Sat, 2 Apr 2005 07:08:32 -0600 " Flo " <fgarig housecleaning, clutter, children I lost my stress mode about housecleaning one day when my Daddy walked in and he said " On your death bed, I guarantee you will not look back and wish you had cleaned more. You will look back and wish you had shut up and helped make the mess, you'll remember the times the child was playing and you were cleaning, take time and play. " At that moment he put my life into perspective--I stopped cleaning like a freak. I now have last night's dishes in my sink, and toys from last night are covering the floor, and I wish I hadn't been too sleepy to stay awake and read longer. But I did do it some. The toys will probably clutter my world till Sunday night--as will the cut up paper from whatever he is making. Sunday night or Monday morning, the stuff will get picked up in time for school. The flylady drove me crazy. Shoes in the house!!! ? There are days I never wear shoes except for exercise. Guest guest
No, LOL, Kelly, I can't follow her if I don't do the 'dressed to the toes' thing first thing in the morning. Morning is my time, I do what I can. Flylady doesn't homeschool. LOL If you break the first rule, all else Flies out the window. hehe Flylady also sends so darn many emails you will wanna pull your hair out. She must have twenty people typing and sending emails out to get you 'on the way'. I found that I can commit to a room per week. I want clean sheets, clean clothes and a clean sink once a day. Other than that, I can walk through the house with vinegar and clean windows. Another thing is shiny stuff. I go through and clean a toilet and all the sinks and the tub and shower curtains. Commit to a kid cleanup day--that means all their little junk piles, ask for help and teach them how to tidy up. Another day is book day..pick up all books (yeah really!) and put all books where they live. It leads to other little chores and it all adds up. Never let your children tell your secrets. I was at a minister's home one day and my Kid needed to use the restroom. She said "down the hall and just ignore the pile of clothes in the hall" and Little Genius O'Mine says "you orta do what mama does and when somebody drives up you grab 'em and hide 'em in your room" and while 20 people got a good laugh and I can laugh at it years later--dirty clothes are normal. We need to remember that everyone eats in their home, and plays in their home. My home is not on display, I really live here..snuggly, slobby, neat and all of it. Depends on the day. My floors are not clean either. But we have animals everywhere. The shoes must be left at the door or I will end up chasing someone with a broom. The shoes are by the door, put them on when ya go out. I have also been known to forget where I put them when they aren't by the back door. Don't leave your valuable set about my house, I might have a moment to tidy up and we will not know for months where "it" was placed. The rest will take care of itself. Really, if you were dying tonight, what would you wish you had done today? I ate out by the pond and caught baby crawfish in a net with my kid today. Guest guest
You all have really helped me have a different outlook on this house stuff. I think finally getting more then two hours sleep the last three nights has really helped. I havent had more then that since lil derek was born 13 months ago. I cant believe how much better I am feeling already mentally just from getting some extra sleep. Hugs and much love - you all have a great outlook on life that I hope to continue to grow and have Deana Flo wrote: > No, LOL, Kelly, I can't follow her if I don't do the 'dressed to the > toes' thing first thing in the morning.
