I lost my stress mode about housecleaning one day when my Daddy walked in and he said "On your death bed, I guarantee you will not look back and wish you had cleaned more. You will look back and wish you had shut up and helped make the mess, you'll remember the times the child was playing and you were cleaning, take time and play." At that moment he put my life into perspective--I stopped cleaning like a freak. I now have last night's dishes in my sink, and toys from last night are covering the floor, and I wish I hadn't been too sleepy to stay awake and read longer. But I did do it some. The toys will probably clutter my world till Sunday night--as will the cut up paper from whatever he is making. Sunday night or Monday morning, the stuff will get picked up in time for school.

The flylady drove me crazy. Shoes in the house!!! ? There are days I never wear shoes except for exercise.

Flo, your dad is a wise man. It is sooo right, and really puts a perspective on things when you just look at what or who is the most important? Definitely the happiness and future of my son!!! You sound like me LOL

We very well know that we are a product of our parents and we can see that in ourselves, but often we forget that our children will relate to the same philosophy.

Someone told me a few years ago that the most important part of being a parent is not passing my phobia(s) on to my child. Thus far I have made sure he laughs at my phobias and I have even conquered one of my fears so that he could conquer it. At least he will be a successful parent when he finishes raising me. LOL I wish my Daddy were here to see how well Child has taught me the patience Daddy promised me that parenthood would bring. . L

I like to think my Daddy would like the way I turned out the past six-and-a-half years since he has been gone. I know he would be proud of my kid..I just keep doing the things my Daddy did, even if I know not why. I usually figure it out--hindsight is pretty clear.

And Lisa, thank you for saying that about my Daddy. It feels so good to read that--even if it is from a stranger who only read what he told me. Thank you! kiss kiss.

Hi Flo,

You are most welcome :-))

My dad died a few years ago - I'm happy he got to meet my son once before he died!

I read in another posting that you're homeschooling - that's great! I've homeschooled my son until 2 months ago. He decided he wanted to go to school instead so he's now slowly being integrated. He was getting too lonely at home with just me for company all the time. But we've thoroughly enjoyed the 2 years of homeschooling we had together!! It really created a better bond between us. And yes, I've learned being patient also LOL
