Guest guest
I have been using kombucha and kefir for almost a year. I gave my dad some kombucha and he has said he has noticed a difference in his over all well being. There is a ton of information on the net. I am generally healthy so I cannot say I have noticed a marked difference but I can say that I have not had a cold this winter which is a first as long as I can remember. Guest guest
Julie, generally, almost all reports on the internet regarding kombucha is positive. There are a few who report acidosis as well as dire warnings of death. Reported by an Iowa newspaper. That specific incident was investigated by the FDA and the CDC and found no connection to kombucha. There is also the FDA warns not to ferment kombucha in lead vessels. (DUH!!!) On acidosis, on the face would seem a real threat - except kombucha tea (pH ~3.0) is actually a alkaline forming food. According to Department of Food Science Cornell University The anti-microbial activity observed in kombucha tea (KT) is significant against the tested gram positive and gram negative pathogenic organisms. http://www.happyherbalist.com/analysis_of_kombucha.htm However there exist the possible of mold growing in the culture (also reported by the FDA) for pictures of mold growing in kombucha see http://www.happyherbalist.com/pictures.htm There are common side affects most often associated with a healing crisis, which resolve quickly especially with increasing pure water intake to assist the body in flushing out the toxins being released. There may be an actual allergic reaction to KT usually for those that are allergic to vinegar. In my experience kombucha is very safe and works well for most people. I do not recommend KT for pregnant or nursing mothers, or for babies under he age of 2. I do not recommend KT for those on coumdan, or blood thinners, as it appears to increase the effectiveness of those drugs too much. Although some people have reported no ill affects from that combination. I urge caution for those that have hypo-tension. As KT - with average less than 1/2 of 1% alcohol may induce the feeling of light headiness or a " buzz " as if drinking alcohol. Some report actually feel faint. This may actually indicate a pre-existing severe dehydration state. All said and done, KT is a safe powerful healthy drink. Ed Kasper LAc. Guest guest
Just my opinion here but I found kombucha to not really do anything either but then again, most of the herbs I used havent seemed to help in what they are " claimed " to help in. Makes me a bit sceptical on the herbal aspect unfortunatley being the believer in nature that I am. Guest guest
Dear Deana, I have heard this now and again from friends or acquaintances in the past. 1 for 1 they each had a diet that needed serious fixing. A diet insufficient in proper nutrition would also cause all of the effects you mentioned with your kids as well as negate any assimilation you could detect from herbs. You need to have stronger remedies when farther from ideal health. Have you requested Doc's CD yet? It is free you know. Guest guest
Awesome. So if you want me input on it. Your body needs a full cleansing as well as some good nutrition. Juicing veggies and fruits helps this greatly.
