Guest guest
My husband and I are currently working for our dream of setting up an organic sustinance farm. We aren't going to give up milk and meat, we can't afford to buy organic, so the thing to do is do it all ourselves so that we know it is truely organic. (Besides, I positively drool over the thought of having raw milk again.) One of the homes we are seriously looking at has the added attraction of having spring water piped into the house. Doc, you mentioned that spring water and well water can be contaminated. How do we test this? What should we watch out for? Just looking for some advice Ramona

If you are serious about the water condition in a house you really want to buy, make good water be a condition of the sale. Have your pre-purchase home inspection company run the test as a part of their service. Agricultural run off into well water is a real concern in the country. You can have the land tested for pollutants as well. If you're intending to grow food organic, this is not an unreasonable request.
