Guest guest
I have been interested in all the talk about the deodorant stones made of ammonium alum because I recently gave in to curiousity and bought one and was pleasantly surprised to find that it's works exceptionally well. Browsing around a bit on the net led me to several sites, one of which Kelli Bever has already quoted from, and others which say this compound is not toxic. The link for one such site is... http://physchem.ox.ac.uk/MSDS/AL/aluminium_ammonium_sulfate.html basically it says this: Toxicology Skin, eye and respiratory irritant. Toxicology not fully investigated. and the risks associated with this compound are: Irritating to eyes. Irritating to respiratory system. Irritating to skin. So it sounds relatively harmless and there seems to be little cause for concern other than possible physical discomfort if you rub it on your eyeballs or try to smoke it OR ...if you put it on your skin!! The only discomfort I've experienced with it was that it itched slightly when I put it on but that went away after it dried.
