Guest guest
Sorry if this sounds stupid, but if a person is allergic to eating walnuts, will they be allergic to black walnut tincture? Marisa

Guest guest
Not necessarily. Most people allergic to walnuts are allergic to the proteins in the " meat " of the nut. The hull has different constituents. Keep in mind though that the hull is very high in iodine. This can be important if you are allergic to iodine or are hyperthyroid. High doses of black walnut hull should also be avoided. The hull contains the compound juglone, which can be toxic in high doses. On the other hand, juglone is a mitosis inhibitor. This makes it very useful in controlling the growth of yeast and cancer cells. herbal remedies , " bradyasmin " <corless@s...> wrote: > > > Will someone please answer this. > Thank you. > Marisa > > herbal remedies , " bradyasmin " <corless@s...> > wrote: > > > > > > Sorry if this sounds stupid, but if a person is allergic to eating > > walnuts, will they be allergic to black walnut tincture? > > Marisa
Guest guest
Just as a note: Black Walnut Formula is helpful for both the under and over active thyroid!! It balances the thyroid function! love Lisa - hveragerthi herbal remedies Saturday, March 26, 2005 9:21 AM Herbal Remedies - Re: Black Walnut Tinture and Allergies Not necessarily. Guest guest
I have to disagree. I still feel the very high iodine content of black walnut hull increases the potential for hyperthyroidism, and should definitely be avoided by those with hyperthyroidism. Here is a link to an iodine rich medication, and it's warnings about hyperthyroidism: http://www.mythyroid.com/amiodarone.htm Here is another one: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi? cmd=Retrieve & db=PubMed & list_uids=11396708 & dopt=Abstract For people with hyperthyroidism I prefer to use melissa (lemon balm), and bugleweed to suppress thyroid function. My favorite herb for thyroid balance is coleus forskohlii, which elevates levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). This compound, cAMP, is an enzymatic regulator for various processes in the body including thyroid regulation, histamine and leukotriene inhibition, prostaglandin inhibotion, which also lowers blood pressure, thermogenesis, etc. herbal remedies , " Lisa de Haas " <lisa@l...> wrote: > Just as a note: Black Walnut Formula is helpful for both the under and over active thyroid!! Guest guest
Wow, that's interesting.. it supports low and high thyroid conditions, AND it kills parasites.. How much would be too much, and how often would be too often to take it? It seems pretty powerful. (I know it's real hard to get off your hands, in it's " native " state, too.. Guest guest
The staining of the skin is due to the very high iodine content of the hulls. Since excess iodine is known to be cause of hyperthyroidism I still would not recommend it in cases of hyperthyroidism. Even the seawed bladderwrack is contradicted in hyperthyroidism due to its high iodine content, and its iodine content is a lot lower than that of black walnut hulls. Though the juglone content is of the most concern. What is considered too much is hard to say since the content would vary from crop to crop, and what level is toxic for one person is not going to be toxic to someone else. So it is best to error on the side of caution and keep with low doses and occasional breaks. It should not be used at all by pregnant women or those that think they may be pregnant due to the mitosis inhibition of the juglone. herbal remedies , " Scott Hales " <hales@v...> wrote: > > > Wow, that's interesting.. it supports low and high thyroid conditions, AND it kills > parasites.. > > How much would be too much, and how often would be too often to take it?
