IE: accute injury/trauma or chronic condition? I started seeing a Chiro several years ago, due to chronic neck/shoulder and lower back pain. When I first started out, I had to go in 3 times per week, which decreased to twice per week, then to every 6 weeks, and now I only go in every 2 months to keep everything going smoothly... (unless I overdo it, and pull/strain something in between visits) I needed the 3 times at week at first, because I had the symptoms for so long before seeking treatment. The Chiro explained to me, that the body has " memory-type " cells, and just giving 1 adjustment isn't going to permanently " fix " the problem, cuz everything is going to try to go back to the way it was before the adjustments started. I needed continuing adjustments in order to " remind " everything along the spinal column where it was " supposed " to be, and to keep it there. I am able to go alot longer between adjustments, as I " keep " the adjustments longer now.... everything is " remembering " where its supposed to be and for the most part, stays there now. I still go every 2 months as a sort of " maintenance " type program, as I don't ever want things to go back to the way they were before I started treatment.
