Guest guest
I'm making an echinacea root tincture (from dried herb, really fine teabag cut) with brandy, as several of my books say that it's an acceptable menstruum. After the alhohol soaked in, I've got about an inch over the top of the herb. After the first day or so, I notice when I go to shake it every day that the herb has settled to the bottom and then between it and the clear brandy at the top, there's a line of what looks to be cloudy or powdery liquid, the same color as the herb. After I shake it, all the liquid is a little cloudy. Is there something wrong with my tincture? It smells and tastes like normal echinacea tincture, so I'm not sure. Could this be powder from the herb itself? It's $10 worth of echinacea, so I'm hoping that this is normal and I don't have to throw it out. Anybody know?
