It could be raw honey, agave nectar (cactus nectar which is a very nice honey consistency), or stevia (even maple syrup) or a combination. The agave nectar and stevia can be obtained from the health food store. If you use stevia, you will have to do it by taste because 1 teaspoon will be way too much since it is approx. 10x sweeter than sugar.herbal remedies , natural game <mathmasta1111001> wrote:> zengirl, what exactly would be the "sweetener", and where would i find it..???> > Peace,> Natural Game> > zengirl04 <zengirl04> wrote:> > > To save you from this "episode" ;-) ... here is a simple recipe for > coconut milk.> > 1 cup shredded, dried coconut> 1 teaspoon sweetener> 3 cups pure water> pinch of salt (this is optional(> > Blend all ingredients in a blender for 3 minutes. Guest guest
Different brands taste different. I prefer the Herbal Authority brand liquid drops. It's *very* sweet. I've not tried it in coffee, but do like it in lemonade and herbal teas -- at a minimal amount of only 2 drops or so to a big glass or mug. Some brands do have an aftertaste of some sort, but I don't think the HA brand does. At least, I don't taste any. Sharyn Tonya Wiersch [tonya] I am just curious...what does Stevia taste like? Is it comparable to sugar, or does it taste odd? Would it be good in coffee? Guest guest
To me it just tastes sweet if I add it to something that has a strong flavor on its own. I'll use it in herb tea or to increase sweetness along side honey or agave when I don't want to add too much sugar. If you use too much stevia, it tends to have a slight licorice taste. It is approx 10x sweeter than sugar. I buy " SteviaPlus " at the healthfood store and it comes in pre- measured packets. Sometimes I only use a half of the packet for a cup of tea. It's absolutely fantastic in lemonade, but I wouldn't use it to sweeten whipped cream (just as an example of a mild flavored food vs. a strong flavored food.) Again, the white powder has nothing harmful in it, yet there is nothing beneficial either. You can gets powder or drops that are the whole, green plant. That has a more organic taste to it but has lots of health benefits. It's good for your gums and digestion. herbal remedies , " Tonya Wiersch " <tonya@w...> wrote: > I am just curious...what does Stevia taste like? Is it comparable to sugar, > or does it taste odd?
