Ideas. One reason plateau's happen is because the body is adjusting to the amount of weight one has already lost and those nasty suckers (plateau's) can last for a few weeks. One way to jump start it, is to acutally INCREASE your caloric intake for a week or two and let your body have a break... Another way is to increase the intensity of your walks... walk briskly for 20 minutes, walk HARD for 5, then back to briskly for 10, HARD for 5, briskly 10 etc. and then briskly for the last 20... Another suggested way is to fast for 24 hours, drinking just clear liquids.... being one who can't go 20 minutes without eating, this would also be a method of failure for me... And a final suggestion is to change the TYPE of foods you are eating for a while... for example, if you are doing a protien diet, switch to a low fat, high fiber diet with tons of veggies. ALWAYS include tons of water, I tend to slack on the water something awful.... Finally... sometimes those darned plateau's, there aint a darned thing you can do about them except out last them... the trick is outlasting them. I hope that helps a little. Cheers! Check with the quack, this could be a sign of low iron. In fact... Just check with the quack anyway. If you are eating well and exercising and you are STILL feeling tired and sluggish, could be something else going on... from depression to low iron to a number of different things... check with the Quack... And congrats on those 22 pounds, that's a whopping amount! Cheers! Guest guest
Since walking is the only exercise you can do, maybe you need to add some zing to it. Hand weights will help. Carry them with your elbows bent so the hand weights are held in front of you, and swing your arms back and forth as you walk. -- Sandy Cheryl Smith wrote: > I am have been making some life changes which > include a change of eating habits. Guest guest
Research is showing that it is actually the strength training that will jump start your metabolism, not the aerobic exercise (although you need that too!). Can you get some free weights and do your upper body a few times a week? Also, for some people, if you eat more often it helps with your metabolism. So 5 or 6 small meals a day might be better for you than 3 large ones. This can also backfire for some people depending on how your portion control is! I have always eaten this way, and every roommate I have ever had has gained weight b/c they ate when I ate, and whoops! Guest guest
Yeah he has and I see a specialist because I supposedly have a problem with it. But not serious enough for anything to be done about it. Thanks for the information on amino acids. Cheryl --- foxhillers wrote: > Cheryl > How is your thyroid function? Guest guest
Cheryl Subclinical hypothyroidism is hard to diagnose with blood tests and more accurately picked up with basal temperature tests. Do some readings and take them to your doc along with info you garner from the web on hypothyroidsim. Insist firmly that consideration be given for Armour thyroid.... NOT synthroid. mjh In a message dated 5/27/03 2:37:27 PM Eastern Daylight Time, female_tigress writes: > Yeah he has and I see a specialist because I > supposedly have a problem with it.
