Guest guest
I'm new to this group in hopes to gain knowledge of alternative ways of healing physically and to gain a balance. I am new to alternative medicine as well, so please bare with my lack of knowledge. I'm a 22 year old female in over all good health. I do need to lose weight, which I've been working successfully on. I went to my medical doctor the other day and was given a basic physical as well as an EKG test which appeared to show that my heartbeat is faster than it should be while I'm physically resting. So I've been put on a medication called Atenolol. I have never been on medication before and I don't want to have to stay on this medication. So I want to ask, are there any natural ways to slow the heartbeat to a point of 'normal'? Again my heartbeat is faster while I am physically resting, or relaxed so I suppose meditation wouldn't be an option. Though I still continue with it because it helps me to balance. Thank you for all answers and considerations :-) Many blessings to all~ ~ Ageless Messenger
Guest guest
Yoga and solar plexus breathing helps, when you say fast - how fast do you mean? My own averages between 80 - 90 and I never bother about it. I thought Atenolol was an anti-hypertensive - but perhaps it's better than Digoxin! Try eliminating all caffeine for a week and see if that makes a difference. Jane > which I've been working successfully on. Guest guest
Hi, Assuming everything else is normal, all adults at a minimum should take a therapeutic vitamin and fish oil. I differ with your statement that " meditation wouldn't help " . Meditation can decrease your heartbeat and respiration rate, and deliver on the body's regenerative abilities. I would suggest meditation (transcendental meditation or self hypnosis) several times a day, at the same time each day. Costs you nothing to try, and may save you taking a medication and suffering it's side-effects. Guest guest
Messenger, Diet is important but so is exercise. Run,walk or play sports. Different yoga postures will help. Yoga pranayams and meditation are all good. All of this will also not only help with the heartbeat but also help with weight stabilization. Herbs that are good are hawthorne berries and arjuna but exercise reigns supreme.
