Guest guest
Hi! Kasturbai, I was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease stage 3 a few months back. Dr. # 1 put me on a low protein diet. I was told that protein will put a load on the kidneys. So, with the dr. not able to give me a specific amount to eat a day in protein or an example as what to eat. I then called the " Renal " dietician at the Hospital and she sent me a book( the diabetic diet) and marked how many proteins I was allowed a day. Also, a Renal Dietician may be able to give you more information on what can be done for your mom as for as food intake that may help to not make a heavy load on her kidneys. Also I was told to drink alot of water, and also some cranberry juice. Dr. #2. My kidney dr.when I spoke to him and told him I was so tired of drinking water water water, then he said that I could drink Lemonade. So check with your mom's kidney dr. and see if she can drink lemonade. Also, Dr. #2 says that my high bp is causing problems with my kidneys and he has tried several bp meds to lower my bp. But Lol, my chiropractor says that my kidneys is what is causing my high bp. So..... who do I believe? I have tried to find all the information on the net that I could that will help me to help my kidneys to improve. As well that would give me information to understand my condition more. Also I have depended alot on fellow friends on health groups for any information that might help me as well. I hope you find infomation that will help your mom. I hope your moms kidney problems can improve and she will get alot better real soon. Guest guest
Moderator's Note: If you want something specific to the animal- especially specific to the symptoms presented consider homeopathy. Good for people and pets because it is not the label or diagnosis that is considered but the actual symptom picture. Just happens to work- so it works for the two and the four legged. ------------------ I'm not at all posting this to be flip or make fun. I belong to this group, other 'alternative' groups, and several pet health groups. For dog and cat owners with Kidney issues, transplantation is not an available option. A reduced-protein diet is recommended for them as well, along with limiting the foods with higher Phosphorus counts. If they can't drink enough water on their own, then IV hydration becomes necessary. 'Alternative-Holistic' supplements include some items that are really made and marketed for human consumption: 'Renafood' or 'Renatropin' from Standard Process Labs, supplements including the Oriental herb Rehmannia ('Six Flavor' teapills, or 'Rehmannia eight'), others including the extracts from Cordyceps mushrooms. Vetri-Science markets a formula combining kidney-nutrients calling them 'Renal Essentials' ... a sister-company under another label markets similar formulas for humans. There's a pro-biotic formula marketed by a NJ firm called Vetquinol which works in the intestines to limit the 'workload' on the kidneys (that one is intended for dogs and cats, but most of the others i mentioned is market for human consumption). mike in fla
