Guest guest
Hi all, I am a new diabetic and am new to the group but have seen so many things written about Splenda and other artificial sweetners that I am baffled on what I can use safely for a sweetner that will not affect my blood sugar levels. Can someone address this and tell me what is best? thanks, Sue
Guest guest
You might try liquid stevia. I'm not sure what it does to blood sugar levels, but you could probably search it. Guest guest
Stevia is a natural herbal sweetener, many times sweeter than sugar- does not affect your Blood sugar levels. It is a lovely plant quite easily grown in most any climate that is above 50F most of the time or indoors if in colder climate. Herbal extracts can be purchased from most HFS http://www.stevia.net/ zoe > Hi all, I am a new diabetic and am new to the group but have seen so > many things written about Splenda and other artificial sweetners that > I am baffled on what I can use safely for a sweetner that will not > affect my blood sugar levels. Here's just a short article, you can 'google' Stevia for more info: http:www.diabeteshealth.com/read/2006/08/01/4813.html Good Luck in your search Jean >
Guest guest
Speaking as a diabetic, I found that getting rid of my sweet tooth was far better than looking for a sweetener I could use to placate my sweet tooth. Sweets stimulate my craving for other sweets. I suspect the body senses sweets, secretes insulin because it is expecting carbs, then one has lowered blood sugar which makes on crave more sweets. But I do not know this for sure. I do know I am much happier with no sweeteners in my diet.
