Guest guest
action.eff.org/evoting Tell your US Representative to vote YES on HR 811 A bipartisan bill requiring paper trails for electronic voting machines could be voted on by the House of Representatives this week. Please call your Representative and use the form, at action.eff.org/evoting , asking them to support H.R. 811, the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act of 2007. Electronic voting machines have wreaked havoc in our election system. Despite demonstrated technical failures -- including the loss of thousands of votes -- nearly half of all states still do not require a voter-verified paper ballot. If these machines break down or are programmed wrong, by accident, or intentionally, the people's votes are lost. Most of the voting machines in operation today haven't been sufficiently reviewed for security. Along with requiring machines to produce a voter-verified paper ballot, H.R. 811 mandates random audits and many other critical reforms. We must protect the integrity of the 2008 election! Please contact your Representative. Call the capital switch board, toll free at any of these numbers. You can just give your zip code if you don't know their name. 1 (800) 828 - 0498 1 (800) 459 - 1887 1 (800) 614 - 2803 1 (866) 340 - 9281 1 (866) 338 - 1015 1 (877) 851 - 6437 Easy email action for fair, transparent elections at: action.eff.org/evoting HR 811: Separating Truth From Fiction in E-voting Reform _http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/archives/005308.php_ (http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/archives/005308.php) Additional information on electronic voting: _http://www.eff.org/Activism/E-voting/_ (http://www.eff.org/Activism/E-voting/) ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
