Guest guest
HEADS UP! WE'VE WON SOME VICTORIES! http://www.newswithviews.com/DeWeese/tom88.htm By Tom DeWeese July 21, 2007 NewsWithViews.com So many in the freedom movement are quick to accept the idea that we cannot win against the forces of tyranny. They are dragging their chins on the ground and sit in despair. Darned if I understand why. 2007 and the Democrat-controlled Congress has been one of the greatest tests for the ideas of limited government and preserving the Republic. Forgive me for sounding like Pollyanna, but so far, we are winning. Frankly, this Congress has failed to pass a single significant piece of legislation to hurt us. Of course that can change quickly, but we can face that when it comes. For now, stop fretting and look at the bright side. First, the defeat of the Senate Immigration bill is without question, the greatest victory for the Republic in at least a decade. While many have lamented that the American people are asleep, paying no attention to issues of the day, the fact is a full 80% of the American people opposed the guest worker scheme and saw it was truly amnesty for illegals. They saw the threat and said so. The Senate and the White House, not used to an enflamed electorate, continually tried their usual flimflam tactics of ignoring the will of the people. Not this time. Americans hated this bill and said so. The Senate got more phone calls and more letters than on any issue in recent memory. The Senate switchboard was shut down. And it DID NOT PASS. Of course they will try again. Who said Freedom is easy to preserve. The North American Union. We're told this is a done deal. Can't stop it. Wanna bet? Even with virtually no national media to expose it, the word is spreading like wildfire. As a result, currently 18 state legislatures have now passed, or are working to pass, resolutions against the idea of a North American Union. The Teamsters Union has filed suit to stop the Bush Administration's plan to allow Mexican trucks to cross our borders and haul good throughout the nation. The suit is shining a very bright spotlight on the scheme and could well sidetrack the program. Keep in mind; all of the Americans who stood up to oppose the immigration bill are potential allies in the fight against the North American Union. It's the same issue in different wrapping. In Texas, just a year ago, state legislators basically denied there even was a Trans Texas Corridor. Just a highway improvement program, they said. Yet, just one year later, in landslide margins, the Texas Legislature voted overwhelmingly to put a moratorium on the project so more discussion could take place. That was a major victory. True, many of the legislators lost their nerve at the last minute and put in amendments to basically cut the teeth out of the bill. But first we must remember that the vote in itself was an amazing victory to expose the corridor. There can be no denial that the vote was to stop the TCC. The people of Texas said no to that Corridor. Now they must continue the fight by exposing those legislators who betrayed them. The momentum of the first vote much be used to continue the fight until we win the final victory to stop the TCC - just like we did in the immigration battle. In 2005, Freedom's warriors were convinced the battle to stop the National ID was over after Congress passed the Real ID Act. Yet, there are now 12 states refusing to go along with implementing it. There is legislation in Congress to repeal it outright. Americans are learning it is not a tool to fight terrorism or illegal immigration, but a plan to impose a big brother style tyranny on us all. We're stopping it. A couple of years ago, Congress passed a horrible bill which literally robbed our First Amendment right of free speech. The McCain-Feingold bill severely restricted the ability to even name elected representatives in campaign ads. It then was impossible to run effective campaigns against incumbents, giving them a free election ride. Last month the Supreme Court ruled that it was against the First Amendment to ban businesses and unions to fund advocacy campaigns in the closing months of an election. It was a huge victory for the right of free speech and the Republic. Word has now come down from Congressional Democrats that they will not renew Fast Track authority for the president. Of course it's a political ploy against Bush, but the fact is, Fast Track is the one issue that actually gives the President the power to negotiate policy like NAFTA, GATT and the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), to implement the North American Union. It is a victory for our side to take that authority away for him, no matter the reason. Worried about the invasion of Chinese goods now flooding the American market place? The problem may take care of itself soon. The month of June has seen a huge backlash against Chinese goods - more powerful than any boycott could ever produce. And they are doing it to themselves. Chemicals in killer dog food have been traced back to China. The FDA has just moved to block the sale of Chinese fish because of still more chemicals. Defective Chinese tires have been discovered. All of these things will only serve to prove to the American people that Chinese goods are inferior and undesirable. Americans may yet learn that China is a brutal communist regime that has no concern for the quality of its products. It cares only for the power of the money it makes off of them. It proves that the free market can be trusted and those who think they can manipulate it will eventually be exposed. There are lots of good things happening in the name of freedom around the world. There are efforts to create private property as a means to eradicate poverty. There are efforts to bring back DDT to eradicate malaria. Of course there are bad things going on. Of course the forces of tyranny continue to build to enforce their will. The good news is every victory they score creates new victims. Every new victim finds their way to the camp of Freedoms Heroes and our forces swell. And that can ultimately lead to freedom - if we will just get our heads out of the sand and appreciate a victory when we win one. © 2007 Tom DeWeese - This email was cleaned by emailStripper, available for free from http://www.papercut.biz/emailStripper.htm
Guest guest
That's a bunch of bull. The Dems and Repubs just rammed thru legislation which will raise cost of all supplements and drive smaller companies out of business. Legislation was rammed thry the House without debate and without allowing Ron Paul's amendment which would have protected our supplements. Guest guest
This has nothing to do with Dems and Repubs, Alobar. This has simply everything to do with politics. Politiicans don't know shit about nutrition or vitamin supplements. They're, for the most part, a bunch of very " spoiled, " pampered, very self-indulgent multi-millionaires, less likely to deviate from traditional practices than the general population, because they feel that tradition has been more than usually kind to them. Junk food, is as much an American tradition, as a spotless suit and tie. In other words, they're like so many of the rest of us, except they have more money. If we don't defend our rights, we eventually lose them; and the " right " to our supplements is no exception. If we want nutritional supplements to be freely available to us all, we need to inform our politicians, when our supplement rights are not under atttack; not wait until they're under attack, and then, in a desparate rush, try to inform our politicians. In almost all cases, they know nothing about supplements, and have no regard or appreciation of what they've come to mean for millions of Americans. These political officials, need to be told about nutrition, and how it has come to powerfully influence the lives of countless millions of " voters. " If Ron Paul is supporting an amendment protecting our supplements, I'll wager that he isn't doing it for nutritional reasons, he's doing it for political advantage. In other words, he's not an informed spokesperson for our concerns. He's just looking to put together a bunch of constituencies that will support him. I'm not as enamoured of Paul's pitch as many others are. It makes no sense to me, to seek the highest office in a government, merely to dismantle that government. jp - Alobar Sunday, July 22, 2007 2:02 PM Re: HEADS UP! WE'VE WON SOME VICTORIES! Guest guest
Ron Paul has been working for years to protect our access to supplements from the greedy clutches of Big Pharm / FDA. Most of our congressmen have been bought off by the pharm co's including Bush. Ron Paul is the MOST ethical congressman and is not doing this for political gains, one of the few left in congress, talk with his office and find out how he's been sticking up for our health freedoms and supplement access for years. No other congressman has worked as hard as ron Paul/ , " John Polifronio " <counterpnt wrote: > > This has nothing to do with Dems and Repubs, Alobar. This has simply everything to do with politics. Guest guest
Ron Paul has always done what he could to protect our supplements. Most of the other Dems & Repubs are wholly owned by big pharm. Saying that the Dems are on our side would be silly if it were not so dangerous. The two big parties are ruling class parties with similar agendas. There are very few exceptions. Kucinnich and Paul both seem honorable to me. I sure do not agree with Paul on every issue, but when it comes to protecting our righnt to take supplements w/o government control or interferance, Paul is #1. Guest guest
I must agree with prshaw56! If you don't vote for Ron Paul and like statesmen, you WILL be electing big pharm/fda. Irrespective of whether the " left " or " right " wins. If we don't put differences aside and come together for ONE thing, to restore the Constitution and Bill of Rights as the supreme law of the land, our differences will mean nothing AND our ability to freely choose how we handle OUR healthcare will be gone. Do this first and be ever diligent to THIS task, an you can go back to bickerin all ya want! Division makes us weaker and we should never be weaker. Rights cannot be taken. They can only be given. Guest guest
So far I like everything I have heard about Ron Paul. I really do wish he would be President. I personally don't think he has a sno-balls chance in hell, because (based on what I so far know) his beliefs, values, and votes have not been friendly to the big multi-national corporations who buy our legislators as easily as I buy a loaf of bread at the grocery store. His actions may be politically motivated in part or in full; I believe they are also a statement of his level of integrity. He is one of the few people who has voted for what I think the people want and against some of the measures that have been so detrimental to the needs and wishes of the people. At a time when the executive is actively consolidating power unto itsel(and ursurping power from other gov branches making them virtual servants of the executive) Ron Paul he is one of the few who says we need less power and less government and who wants the constitution to be honored. As of late , I have come to the conclusion that not only are our legislators bought and sold by the multi-nationals, there is operative anotheranother even more sinister practice that makes them ignore the people. .... That is the practice of getting legislators into compromising positions complete with photos and then blackmailing them into the vote the puppet pullers want passed. I don't know the percentages but would say, based on votes I have seen , that most have been baught and or compromised in one way or another. This is not to discount what you have said in your characterization of them ........yes, many are spoiled, self indulgent and many (most?) are ignorant about the issues before them. That really should not matter too much since they don't even read the bills they pass. I also have noticed with civil servants (mayors, governors, legislators -- who are neither civil nor do they give service) that many have an elistist attitude, sense of entitlement and almost a divine right attitude about their job. My mayor: " God led me to this job " ... and to people compaining to him about his perormance " Some people around her seem to forget that I am the CEO of this city. Well for sure he spends our money like a CEO but its not for services, just more sports arenas and the like -- all of which have been a financial disaster. My legislator: I don't have to explain how I spend this stamp allocation money, its a perk of my job. My Governor: I know whats best for the people and thats what they will get no matter what they say. The " president " -- well quote almost anything he has said and it will qualify as representative of this kind of thinking.. So far, its all about power politics. Only when the people OVERWHELMINGLY rise up and protest and protest relentlessy do we get listened and only then because a people revolt would jeapordize their staying in office. You wrote: I'm not as enamoured of Paul's pitch as many others are. It makes no sense to me, to seek the highest office in a government, merely to dismantle that government. How are you using that terms............as in do away with it altogether or minimize it or what. g
Guest guest
How can the fate of our nation be a matter of electing or not electing Ron Paul? This is preposterous. The democrats have historically done a far better job for the masses of Americans. If you study the history of the two major parties, this becomes as clear as it can be. I invite anyone that doubts this to conduct a study of their own, into the votes and actions of the democratic party, over the past 75 years, to see which of two parties has done more, much more, for the common man. jp - Carriage Tuesday, July 24, 2007 4:20 PM Re: Re: HEADS UP! Guest guest
Ron Paul is a party line Libertarian. He only deviates on two issues, so far, from what I have heard... and I have listened to everything that I can get my hands on. He deviates on pro-life and pro-nuclear energy. For those who read the Libertarian Newsletter and have followed the party for any length of time, this should not bother you for a second even if you disagree with these stands. The previous Libertarian presidential candidate, Brown, was pro-life, but he quickly made it clear that this issue was not something that the government should regulate. I have never heard Paul say that, but given what he has said, so far, he agrees with this stand. No one should worry about what the drives the Libertarian Party... which translates directly to Ron Paul. The fact is that some of us thrive on personal freedom and are even willing to run for public office in order to see it happen. If you doubt what I have said, to their newsletter. Ron Paul is not turning over any new rocks here, the only difference is that he is running on a national party ticket. He could just as easily have picked the Democratic Party and he would still be where he is. Can Ron Paul win? No one yet understands exactly how powerful this online network is... and that appears to be another version of the same question. Ron Paul is wildly popular here and that should give all of the others running for the office some pause. There is plenty of time and this whole thing could launch forward in a heartbeat once the mainstream press catches on to the underlying power of this that they do not understand. How powerful is it? They used U-Tube for the last debates and that alone could change the course of all future debates. This could likely have an even more far-reaching effect as long as the internet is kept free and no changes are likely between now and the upcoming election. The end result could be that we could take back our country and especially its direction in health issues. We who use this wonderful media only have to take the debate to our friends for Paul's victory to be sealed. Think about it, IT IS SIMPLE MATH. Guest guest
These days, the Dems prohibited debate on the recently passed bill which is going to greatly increase cost of supplements and put small supplement companies out of business. People like Hilary Clinton are in the pocket of the big drug companies. Name me a presidental hopeful, other than Ron Paul, who actually cares about protecting our right to buy supplements. Democrats used to be pro-union and working class. See much of that thse days? Both major parties have sold us out to the big corporations. It is not what a party *used to* stand for, but what it stands for now.
