Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm new to this group so hi to everyone. My mom was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer a few months ago and is in remission, thank goodness and a lot of really special people. I just wanted to share some of her experiences so that maybe others can hear about the complimentary therapies that worked for her along with her chemotherapy. First of all we are so thankful to Bikram Yoga. If it weren't for Bikram Yoga my mom would not have known that something was wrong. My brother and I got her the gift of Bikram Yoga for Christmas this year. After a few months of yoga, she noticed a big lump by her right hip while doing poses on her front side. In the next few days she saw her doctor who immediately sent her to the OB/GYN. This doctor did some tests and diagnosed her with cancer. He immediately sent her to see the gynecological oncologist to have surgery. The OB/GYN told her that he could do the surgery but the survival rate was much higher when a gynecological oncologist did the surgery. Her surgeon was so good that though she had stage 3 cancer, she was technically in remission just from her surgery. So for any of you who are in smaller towns, it is well worth your drive to go to a gynecological oncologist. She has been doing chemotherapy for the last 3 months is doing well. because of her complimentary therapies she has had no peripheral neuropathy, or nausea. She has been doing Bikram Yoga at 4 times a week (except the chemo weeks). She has also been having acupuncture once a week. her supplements include, Glutamine, Vitamin E, Zinc, Fish Oil, New Chapter's Every Woman's Inner Beauty, New CHapter Berry Green, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Selenium, L-Carnitine, Cal-Mag Citrate, Vitamin B6. She also is adopting parts of the Budwig Protocol by taking a lot of Flax Seed Oil and following the other parts of the protocol. She feels that being active (yoga and 7 mile hikes!) have been a great asset to her recovery. Also she does pranayama (yoga) breathing several times a day, even if she is tired after having chemo. Compared to the fellow patients in the cancer center she is very active and positive. I really have noticed that the yoga makes a huge difference between her healthy attitude and outlook, and therefore her recovery. Her few breaks between practicing made us all notice the difference in her attitude towards recovery. To sum up, if you have ovarian cancer go to a gyn oncologist, take the right supplements, have acupuncture, stay positive by being active, meditating, and doing yoga. You are worth it.
