Guest guest
We've used the Paraway Pack by Unicity for a few years. It's a 30 days cleanse. I can't say I enjoy it but I usually lose about 5 pounds with each cleanse. They sell for about 60 bucks. There are capsules, a fiber type powder and tea to drink at night in the pack. It works for us. My kids even thought hubby & I were weird but now do them with us. We don't follow a special diet when we're on it. Malinda _____ Has anyone here done a colon cleanse I have been giving this great thought lately, but wondering if anyone here has done one of these? Guest guest
Hi Missy, I have done colonic irrigation, a one week juice fast, and the Robert Gray program. Also, I take probiotics and psyllium husks on a regular basis. I have taken aloe vera whole leaf extract and glutamine powder at times to help heal gut wall. I have cut out wheat, dairy and eggs - partly because of mucous formation and partly because of intolerance or allergy. Over the years I have found things have improved for me (i.e. allergies, skin, transit times), but I have never experienced the dramatic expulsion of mucoid matter that some people seem to have and as shown in the photos in some books. I found the colonic irrigation was very helpful. You'll obviously need to find a person qualified to do this. I needed 8 sessions over a period of a few months as the irrigationist said I had quite a lot of mucous build up. My digestion improved, I felt less 'heavy' and bloated, and really all I had to do was just 'lie there'. (note: I also took probiotics throughout the course of this). I would do this again every year if I could afford it. The one week juice fast was based on Richard Anderson's (author of Cleanse and Purify Thyself) program. Carrot/apple juice 5 times per day with digestive enzymes and herbs to stimulate peristalsis with each juice. We also added betonite clay mixture to the juice, although many times I found this made me too nauseous. Some people also added 'green super food' powder, although I could not bear the taste of it. We also did colemas twice daily. (Colema is not as deep as colonic irrigation, but deeper than an enema). Some people on the fast were expelling a lot of mucous. I didn't get such a dramatic effect and was disappointed because of this. I was told by the organisers that sometimes, if one has problems letting go emotionally, one also has problems letting go physically. As that is part of my personality, perhaps there is something in that. The fast was very tough. You feel very tired, sometimes nauseous. You need to have nothing else going on so that you can rest and sleep as you need to. It will be a long while before I feel up to trying this again. And I feel you probably need to do a bit of cleansing before you tackle a juice fast. While I was a little tired and queasy there were some people who had never done any cleansing who felt far worse. One woman decided to give up smoking at the same time and after a few days she could barely even keep the juice down. She was expelling mucous from 'above and below' and developed a dreadful cough. (She had accupuncture at the same time to help kill the cigarette addiction). However, by the end the cough had gone and she said she felt great - but it was a very tough week for her. I had thought about getting a colema board and a juicer and doing a fast at home. However, there was a great advantage in paying to go on a retreat. With 5 juices a day, that's a lot of work and you might be too tired to do it - on the retreat someone else makes the juice and brings it too you. Also they had all the colema boards, buckets, disinfectants, etc. Also there was a lot of emtional support from the staff and from other fasters. I thought this was quite important because I found my emotions were all over the place. Perhaps I detoxed more emotionally than physically that week. And besides the social support there were other things available: yoga, accupuncture, massage, reiki, etc. I have also tried the Robert Gray Intestinal Cleansing Program. His book " Colon Health Handbook " is helpful to do the program and it's quite inexpensive (the book, not the supplements). It's a pretty easy program to follow, in that you don't have to go through the cleanse feeling too tired to move. His book advises on how to adjust the program so that you detox at a comfortable rate without too many reactions. Again, I didn't have the dramatic expulsions of mucoid matter, but would do this again. You can do the cleanse for 30, 60, 90 days - very flexible Hope that helps, Sharon , " ilmomof32004 " <frustratedinil wrote: > > I have been giving this great thought lately, but wondering if anyone > here has done one of these?
