Blessings Shan 3 medicines for Constipation http://homeojunction.blogspot.com/ Nux Vomica – Nux Vomica is indicated in constipation with frequent, ineffectual desire for stool. Small quantities of faeces are passed every time. Sensation as if not finished. Constipation is due to sedentary habits, excessive mental exertion, loss of sleep, sexual excesses, alcoholic stimulants, coffee, tobacco and over eating. Opium- The constipation of Opium is due to absolute inaction of the intestines, a regular paralysis of the intestine, a regular paralysis of the peristaltic movement. There is an absence of desire, absolutely no urging to stool whatever, and so the faeces become impacted in the bowel; and when passed at all come in little, hard, dry, black balls. It is indicated especially in constipation of old people. Alumina- The constipation of Alumina is due to dryness of the intestinal tract; there is diminished peristaltic movement and complete inertia of the rectum, so that we have the symptom, ‘soft stool expelled with difficultyâ€. There is little or no urging to stool. The stool may be hard and knotty like sheep dung, or may be soft. It is indicated when the smaller joints, fingers, toes, wrists and ankles are affected; the pains are very violent, patient cannot bear to have the parts touched or to have anyone come near him. Ledum- Ledum is a useful remedy in gout as well as in arthritis; the indicative symptoms are swelling of the ball of great toe, sore and painful on stepping, drawing pains worse from warmth, pressure and from motion. It has also gouty nodosities in the joints; all pains of Ledum travel upwards. Ledum is a cold remedy; there is general chilliness and lack of heat in Ledum patients. Urtica urens- This remedy is very effective for arthritis by this medicine pain and swelling subsides and large quantities of sand are passed. 3 medicines for Colic http://homeojunction.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html Colocynth- This remedy is specific in colic in gouty and rheumatic subjects, when the well known griping pains forcing the patient to bend double or press something hard into the abdomen are present. It is a colic caused due to gas formation, undigested food or cold, or perhaps some violent emotion such as a fit of anger. Diarrhea may be present along with colic and the emission of flatus or stool will relieve the colic. It is also a most useful remedy in menstrual or vesical colic. Dioscorea- Continuous and constant pain about umbilical region associated with paroxysms of great intensity add flatulent spasms; relieved by stretching the body out; Bilious, rheumatic and neuralgic colic’s. Pains radiate to chest and back; it is a most valuable remedy in certain forms of dyspepsia which marked with much colicky pain. Dioscorea is most useful in painful enteralgias which are relieved by bending backwards. Nux vomica- Haemorrhoidal colic or spasmodic colic from accumulation of flatus; Deep seated hypogastric pain, abdomen hard and drawn in, not distended. Colic from dietetic errors or in brandy and coffee drinkers; pains worse on motion, pain pinching and contractive, griping as if intestines were rubbed between stones. I hope not, since the best remedy for drug induced constipation is to wean oneself off the drug, right?
