He is one of the patients from the 1984 US Incline Village ME epidemics and a patient of the dedicated Drs Peterson and Cheney who insisted that the US CDC and government investigate the illness. In Help ME Circle, 15 January 2004 he described how the severely ill people from the Incline Village epidemic were abused by doctors, who told them that they were just burned out, overstressed complainers that brought this upon themselves by bad diet and poor attitude. Dr.s Hyde, Parish and Shelokov walked out the the CDC's Holmes committee in protest at the very moment an illness they recognized to be ME was re-named CFS. Even with their knowledge of ME, and Ramsay's work, these ME literate physicians were unable to exert their influence to alter the course of events, I draw your attention to page 219 of Osler's Web and the chapter " Fatigue Unto Death " which recounts that " myalgic encephalomyelitis " was one of the names under consideration by the Holmes committee, but was rejected along with " Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome " as lending the illness too much credibility by appending nomenclature which implicated a viral etiology. -Erik Johnson ~~~~~~~~ Send an Email for free membership ~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~:~ >>>> Help ME Circle <<<< >>>> 15 June 2007 <<<< Editorship : j.van.roijen Outgoing mail scanned by Norton AV
