How The FDA is Becoming a Drug Company

Under the false pretense of improved food and drug safety the FDA is

re-inventing itself as a kingpin drug company. This charade has so far

hoodwinked

virtually all members of Congress. The Senate has already approved this FDA

transformation. The House will bring similar legislation out of committee next

week, with a vote in the full House likely in July. The measure will then go

to a conference committee to work out the differences. The final chapter in

this transformation occurs when the Reagan-Udall Foundation for the FDA becomes

law, which is scheduled to happen some time before September 30, 2007.......

A media campaign portraying Iran as supplying arms to the Taliban guerrillas

fighting US and NATO forces in Afghanistan, orchestrated by Cheney and his

allies who advocate for a more confrontational stance toward Iran in the Bush

administration, appears to have backfired last week when Defense Secretary

Robert Gates and the commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan, General Dan

McNeil, issued unusually strong denials.

46 pages of documents turned over by the Justice Department to Congress as

part of the investigation into the firings of at least nine US attorneys

provide further evidence that White House officials were deeply involved in the

mass firings of well-performing prosecutors.
