In the Southwest this was and is the case. For many years folks have gone to

curanderos or those who seem to have a " gift " for healing or help; and those

folks- at least the real ones- dont advertise themselves. There is no sign on

the door; and one doesnt find them in the yellow pages. Often word of mouth is

the means one finds them. Most will tell folks not to tell anyuone that they

were healed by them.

I personally have benefitted from such healers, when allopathic mediceine failed

or only offered the cut, burn, or poison options they seem limited to.
