Guest guest
Dear Carol, Welcome to the HR. Check out the files and look up the recipe for Cal-Calm Tea. This would be great for lactating mothers. You'll want to stay away from your stronger herbs like Poke Root, Chaparral, and Wormwood, etc if you're not working under the supervision of a naturopath. Any of your Store bought Numi Brand type teas should be fine for you as long as they're "organic" and have no caffeine. What part of Ontario are you from??? My name is Carol and I live in Ontario, Canada. I'm 27 and have been married for 6 years and have 3 wonderful children. The newest one will be 3 weeks old on Saturday. I bf and that's what I have a question about. I've read that herbal lactation teas will help increase the quanity and quality of your milk and that there are some that have harmful ingredients in them. My question is, what should a bf-ing mom not take herbally and what would be good to put in a tea to help with the quality issue? If anyone can answer this for me I would be most grateful. If this isn't the kind of question to ask here please forgive me and let me know. Thanks so much, Carol
Guest guest
Hi Carol, that is a perfect question about the breast feeding. I drank at least 2 liters of water way back when it wasn't fashionable. My baby is 35 this year and she is very healthy, was a tadpole when she arrived 6 weeks early, but darned if she didn't grow into a beautiful woman. If you drink tea do a search on what is save for a lactating female you can find all sorts of stuff and I'm sure you will here more updated info from some of the young women who are more modern Millie's than myself. Good luck to you sweetie. Micki
Guest guest
The best way to increase milk production is to drink more water and to give the baby more time at the breast. Increased nipple stimulation is what increases production. This is why schedules are no good and feeding-on-demand works best. I used fenugreek capsules some and " Mother's Milk " tea (by Traditional Medicinals) when I wanted a boost (of confidence) in my production. The herbs were just a mental reassurance for me, as our bodies are meant to produce all the milk our babies need. Keep up the good work, Mama!jillOn 9/14/06, Carol Beuth <sofarmomof3 wrote: Hi there, I'm new here. My name is Carol and I live in Ontario, Canada. Guest guest
I totally ditto the drink plenty of water and more breast time. I also have had GREAT success with nutritional yeast, I add it to yogurt or a drink. The taste was awful to me at first, but brands make a difference and my tastebuds grew to it. It is so full of B vitamins that I enjoy taking it whenever I need an energy boost. Also, a bowl of oatmeal increased my milk. Now, I never have really needed to boost my milk supply, so I don’t know how much this works for everyone else, but my students have had good success with it J Hugs! Guest guest
I am looking into using Cellfood on a daily basis, I've heard of many good uses, although I have not taking it. It does talk about toe nail fungus. Maybe someone here would now if anyone used it for that purpose. Rose Forest Witch <forest_witch wrote: Greetings everyone! Guest guest
Forest Witch, have you tried soaking your feet in a mix of half vinegar and half water? Any kind of vinegar will work if it's going to; I've used both plain white and organic apple cider. Soak for about 20 minutes a day, every day, for about three months. The new nail will grow out over the next several months if it works for you. It does for me. - Meg

Dear FW As a matter of fact: My wife had longterm toenail fungal problems on both big toes. She had tried 'stuff' from the chemist and then had treatments from two separate Podiatrists. Then she was referred to a specialist. The drugs to treat it were said to be toxic for the liver. None of the chemical treatment worked. She agreed to let me use ti-tree oil on each toe. The fungus was cured in two days and has not returned. The nails are now growing healthily. Method: Soak a small piece of cloth in ti-tree oil and bind it to the toenail, wrapping it up and keeping it on overnight, remove in the morning. Repeat the next night. The only drawback was that the surrounding skin got burnt, but that is a small price to pay for the healing of the fungal. The skin healed itself over the next week. Hope you find that interesting. Everyone is different and we can all have a variety of reactions to different substances. Monitor yourself closely.
