Guest guest
Pamela, We are all quite unique, so it is not unusual for people to have unusual reactions to supplements or even foods! I don't know your specific reason for taking supplemental Zinc but if it is just a matter of augmenting nutrition, I think seeds, like pumpkin and sunflower are a good source, whole grains if you are a vegetarian or free gracing animals and oysters are said to be an excellent source if you not a vegetarian! Personally I don't like taking anything in a pill form that I can easily get by eating the right type foods or by juicing! I do fortify my juice with a product called Emerald Balance! Pretty good stuff! Domingo Does taking supplemental Zinc cause anybody nausea/queasiness? Zinc has alwasy does this to me, no matter what kind. Anybody know the reason why? Guest guest
Zinc always make me sick. If you are eating a well balanced diet you might already have enough in your system and not need any more. A couple of years ago when I told the doctor that taking vitamins made me sick even with food she told me to take childrens vitiamins as the adult ones were probably too much. (My mom laughs at me-I buy childrens chewables and I have no kids!) To illustrate, my son recently took 8 multiple vitamins daily (source naturals) to compensate for the lack of nutrients in his diet and to treat abnormally high blood pressure. Obviously, it works well, as his readings plunged after completing this regimen which by the way also included other supplemental nutrients. Well- tolerated forms include zinc citrate and gluconate which are sometimes referred to as chelated zinc. some practitioners use other forms of zinc, such as picolinate and orotate because they believe they are the most absorbable forms and there is data to support these claims. Since chelated zinc supplements combine elemental or pure zinc with another compound you must consider the amount of elemental zinc which is commonly listed on the product label. For example, 80 mgs of zinc gluconate usually contain 10 mgs of elemental zinc and 220 mgs of zinc sulfate supply 50 mgs of elemental zinc. I have taken Flora " Floradix Iron with Herbs " on occasion. Personally I prefer this and Standard Process (A-F Betafood) You can obtain SP from your local health food store or natural health professional. http://www.florainc.com/flora/home/usa/products/r64775.asp http://www.standardprocess.com Warm Regards, JoAnn
