MAGNET THERAPY

http://users.mrbean.net.au/~wlast/magnet.html

By Walter Last

Magnets are an effective tool in healing. The opposite poles of a magnet have

different effects on the body. Therefore, it is essential to name the poles

correctly.

If a magnet is suspended with a thread, the pole pointing towards the north

is called the north-pole (according to convention in physics); the other pole

is the south-pole. However, in some books on bio-magnetism, especially in the

USA, the poles are named conversely. For a detailed explanation about this

controversy of naming poles see How Magnetic Poles Are Named

http://users.mrbean.net.au/~wlast/magneticpoles.html

In this article north-pole means north-pointing pole, as in physics. However,

whenever it is important to avoid misunderstandings, I prefer to use the term

north-pointing or south-pointing pole as then everyone knows which pole it

refers to. Another way of finding the polarity of a magnet is to move it slowly

towards the north-pointing end of a compass needle. If the needle turns away,

the north-pointing pole of the magnet has been used, and vice versa.

HOW TO USE MAGNETS

U-shaped magnets are obviously not suitable for magnet therapy; instead flat

ceramic or neodymium magnets are best, otherwise short cylindrical or bar

magnets may be used. The north-pointing pole generally has strengthening,

stimulating qualities: it gives energy. It can be used to improve weak organs

(dark

markings in the iris). The south-pointing pole, on the other hand, withdraws

energy: it is sedating and relaxing. It can be used for pain relief, to reduce

unwanted growths (tumours) and swellings, to soothe inflammations and to arrest

infections (white iris markings).

The magnet does not have to touch the skin, but can be kept in a cotton bag

pinned to the clothing, the specified pole facing the body. For general health

improvement strong magnets - those that can lift 1 kg or more - may be applied

for up to one hour daily, small or weak magnets may be left in place all day.

For serious infections, strong pain or cancerous tumours, however, even

powerful magnets may remain on the body as long as they seem to be beneficial.

If a magnet is used for too long, you may feel uncomfortable or drained of

energy. If this happens, remove the magnet immediately and possibly apply the

opposite pole for a while. Alternatively, place your hands on a large zinc plate

or take homoeopathic zinc 6X as an antidote to magnetic overexposure. Do not

use strong magnets on the brain, eyes or heart, and attach or remove strong

magnets only slowly.

However, this does not apply with a brain tumour, and it may also be

beneficial to sleep with the south-pointing pole of a strong magnet close to the

top

of the head, especially when elderly or with deteriorating brain functions. In

this case one should sleep with the head towards magnetic north and not in a

bed with a frame or springs that can be magnetised.

If there is pain or signs of inflammation in an organ apply the

south-pointing pole; if there is an obvious weakness, use the north-pointing

pole. In most

other cases, however, it is best to experiment with muscle testing to find the

most beneficial pole for the condition at hand. If you are in doubt about

which pole to use, try one pole for some time and later the other pole, then

compare results.

The length of a testing period, before reversing poles, may be only a few

minutes for acute cases or several days for chronic conditions. In general, the

south-pointing pole is much more often indicated and less harmful if applied

wrongly, while a wrongly applied north-pointing pole may increase an infection

or tumour growth. However, strong magnets suppress nerve signals and,

therefore, either pole may eliminate pain. Nevertheless, I recommend to always

using

the correct pole as outlined in this article.

While some people do not feel the magnet energy and show little response,

others are hypersensitive. In this case, use only a weak magnet for a short

exposure or try magnetised water instead. Do not use a magnet in bed if it has

an

innerspring mattress or steel frames or base. In this case the steel parts may

become strongly magnetised with the wrong polarity and cause deterioration of

the disease condition.

A very effective method for balancing energies is by tracing acupuncture

meridians with small magnets. For details of this method see the article

Acupressure & Meridian Therapy http://users.mrbean.net.au/~wlast/meridians.html

For general improvement of wellbeing you may place strong magnets at the

hands and/or feet. For problems mainly in the upper part of the body, place the

right palm on one pole and the left palm on the other. For problems in the lower

part of the body place one pole under the right foot and the other under the

left foot. If mainly one side is affected, the palm may rest on a south pole

and the foot of the same side on a north pole. Finally, a good general

placement is the right palm on one pole and the left foot on the other pole or

vice

versa. You may start using strong magnets in this way for five minutes and

gradually increase to 30 minutes or as long as it feels beneficial.

A strong magnetic through-flow is sometimes beneficial for conditions of a

light pain associated with a weakness. Examples of this are weak shoulders that

are sore when moved. Also, a through-flow is often strengthening to the sexual

organs and lower pelvis by applying a south-pointing pole slightly to the

right at the lower abdomen and a north-pointing pole slightly to the left at the

lower back. For these through-flows, strong magnets may be kept in place for

up to an hour or as long as it feels beneficial.

Using the Correct Pole

As pointed out above the south-pointing pole is placed towards a painful,

inflamed or infected part of the body, while the north-pointing pole may be used

if the body area is weak or under-active. However, there is a possibility that

the weakness or under-activity is caused by a low-grade chronic infection or

inflammation and then it may still improve with the south-pointing pole and

deteriorate with the north-pointing pole. Therefore, the south-pointing pole is

generally safer to use.

Commonly one side of the body has more pain, inflammation, contracted, tight

or tense muscles or sensitivity then the other side. When placing magnets

under the palms or feet then the south-pointing pole should be placed on this

side

and the north-pointing pole on the other. When lying down with the head

pointing north another good possibility is to place a strong north-pointing pole

towards the soles of the feet and a strong south-pointing pole towards the top

of the head, both magnets about 10 to 20 cm away from the body, depending on

the strength of the magnets. You may also experiment sleeping in this way.

With caution you may also sleep with a south-pointing pole directly at the

crown. You may move a strong magnet progressively closer during successive

nights or sleep at first with a week magnet and gradually increase its strength.

This may be most beneficial for the elderly or with neurological diseases. For

this application the body should lie in a north - south direction with the head

pointing north. Make sure that your bed and mattress cannot be magnetized

when using strong magnets in your bed.

Dr William Philpott (Bio-Electro-Magnetics Institute, Choctaw, OK) has

written about cases of increased melatonin and growth hormone production in

elderly

individuals sleeping with a strong south-pole directly at the crown of the

head. Also symptoms of confusion, psychosis, schizophrenia and epileptic

seizures

disappeared with south poles placed at the temples.

If there is no obvious sign to show on which side to place the north or south

pole and whether to drink south-pole or north-pole magnetised water or use

both, then you may use muscle testing to find out. Some individuals are also

good in using a pendulum for this.

Muscle testing may be done in different ways. Commonly you sit down with one

or both magnets placed in the questioned position. Raise a free arm stretched

out horizontally in front with the palm down. A tester or helper exerts

gradually increasing pressure on the wrist of the outstretched arm to see

whether it

locks in position or gives way. Then reverse the poles of the magnets and

test again.

Either the tester or the tested person or both may notice that the arm is

stronger with one particular placement of the magnets. This then is the correct

placement. The same test may be made while holding a jug with either north pole

or south pole treated water lightly pressed against the abdomen. For more

details see the article on Muscle Testing

http://users.mrbean.net.au/~wlast/muscletesting.html

If there is no distortion due to pain, inflammation or congested energies,

then the preferred placement for all individuals, male and female, appears to be

the south-pointing pole towards the right front and the north-pointing pole

towards the left front. This agrees with psychic vision describing a blue

'flame' of bio-energy emanating from the right palm as well as the

north-pointing

pole of a magnet while the left palm and the south-pointing pole emit a

red-yellow flame.

Therefore, the right palm generally has the same properties as a

north-pointing pole and vice-versa. However, in healing the energy flows of our

palms can

be reversed by our will, intention or expectation. To a lesser degree the back

of the body has the opposite polarity to its front. This means that the

energy of the left back is similar to that of the right front but not quite so

strong. This means if a north-pointing magnet is required on the right side of

the

body or a south-pointing magnet on the left than it is best placed on the

back.

Removing Congested Energy

If the south-pointing pole of a magnet, especially a strong one, is removed

from a painful or congested area (including unwanted growths), it is often more

effective to place your left hand between the magnet and the body while the

magnet is slowly removed. Keep the hand close to the magnet. This is to sever

the congesting energies from the body (from the inner aura) and prevent them

from flowing back. Then hold the south pole close to a water surface or better

near running water for about 10 seconds, and rinse your hands under running

water.

This process of energy removal from a painful area may be repeated several

times. The south-pole may be circled in a spiral pattern over the congested

area, starting with either a large or a small circle close to the skin and

gradually moving higher and higher above the body. When the magnet is 10-20 cm

away

from the skin, place the hand under it and withdraw the magnet from the body.

Vitic Energy

This is an ancient method of recharging the body with 'nerve energy' in order

to regenerate the nervous system. Hold a carbon rod in one hand and a

cylindrical magnet in the other. The carbon should be as pure as possible (free

from

metal contamination); often 'arc carbon' is suitable, the usual length about

10 cm and the diameter about 2 cm.

For stimulating and charging the nervous system, hold the carbon in the right

hand and the magnet in the left hand. Alternatively, for sedation of the

nervous system, the carbon should be held in the left hand and the magnet in the

right hand. However, this may be different for some individuals and it is best

to make a muscle test or use other means to find the correct sides.

The recharge period is about 15-30 minutes. The aura usually greatly expands

during this period. Generally, the magnet is held in the middle with the poles

open. The results differ if the pad of the thumb touches a pole of the

magnet. It is beneficial to touch the correct pole with the thumb. Try the

pendulum

or muscle testing to find this pole for yourself.

Too much charging, especially in the evening, may cause sleeplessness. While

for most people this vitic energy is very beneficial, for some it has negative

effects (possibly because of using the wrong sides). Use close

self-observation and you will soon notice whether it is good or bad for you.

Start with

short, infrequent exposures. The stimulating effect is most beneficial for those

who are fatigued and low in nervous energy, while sedation may be most

beneficial for someone who is stressed and over-active or over-stimulated.

Examples of Correct Use of Magnets

Remember the simple rule that the north-pointing pole gives energy, the while

the south-pointing pole withdraws energy. An inflammation, a tight muscle or

pain may be considered to be energy congestions and, therefore, need the

south-pointing pole. Alternatively, an overly relaxed muscle needs more energy

and

consequently the north-pointing pole.

Frequently, one shoulder is dropped, while the other shoulder is raised. The

lower shoulder needs the strengthening north-pointing pole, and the higher

shoulder the relaxing south-pointing pole in order to balance forces. The same

rule applies to the middle part of the spine if there is any sideways

distortion.

In the case of a gall bladder problem the left leg is often shortened, pulled

into the hip socket by tight muscles. The south-pointing pole applied to the

hip can correct this condition. After the magnet has been in place for some

time, gently pull the leg at the ankle until both ankles are exactly

side-by-side. The right leg may be stretched in the same way.

Use a strong south-pointing pole over a tumour; apply for two hours twice

daily or for one hour three times daily. Hold the south pole close to running

water after removal. However, with pain from a tumour or cancer, keep the magnet

in place as long as required, even for days on end.

Fresh wounds heal better with the south-pointing pole applied initially;

later, use both poles in alternation, and in the final stages of healing use the

north-pointing pole for strengthening.

For broken bones the north-pointing pole should be applied above the fracture

(towards the torso), while a south-pointing pole may be applied opposite the

north pole and below the fracture. Alternatively, treat as for wounds.

For headaches use the south-pointing pole wherever the centre of the pain

appears to be; but for general mental refreshment, attach the south-pointing

pole

to the forehead and the north-pointing pole to the base of the skull. This

may also improve psychic awareness.

For stomach and duodenal pain use the south-pointing pole, but to strengthen

the digestion after a meal, apply the north-pointing pole over the pit of the

stomach.

To strengthen a weak heart, a small magnet may be carried in the left shirt

pocket with the north-pointing pole near the breastbone. If there is pain, use

the south-pointing pole instead. Check your pulse to see whether it becomes

stronger and more regular with either pole.

To increase the sexual energy sit on the north-pointing pole of a magnet.

This improves the energy centre at the base of the spine as well as the sexual

glands.

To lower the blood pressure, apply the south-pointing pole to the right side

of the neck, over the 'carotid sinus'. This gland is located above and to the

side of the Adam's apple, just below the jawbone, where you feel the main

artery to the head. To raise low blood pressure, apply the north-pointing pole

to

this spot.

If you are overweight and under-active apply the north-pointing pole of a

small magnet to the thyroid glands for stimulation; if overactive use the

south-pointing pole to slow the metabolism.

Magnetising Water

Magnetised water is beneficial for drinking or for bath or shower water. You

may simply leave the water overnight in a glass container on top of a strong

magnet; select the north or south-pole according to your needs. If you are not

sure, you may drink north-pole-treated water and south-pole-treated water on

alternating days. Experiment and observe. A much better effect is achieved with

flowing water. You may attach a magnet to a non-magnetic part of the shower

or drinking water outlet, and bathe in magnetised water. However, for the

strongest effect lead the water tangentially into a funnel, so that it forms a

vortex. Then attach a strong magnet of the desired polarity to the lower part or

outlet of the funnel.

Magnetised water is also excellent for gardening and farming, attaching a

strong magnet to the sprinkler or outlet of a garden hose. Tests have shown

plant

to increase up to more than 100% in yield. For growth enhancement use the

north-pointing pole, and to discourage diseases the south-pointing pole. For

some photographic evidence of the effectiveness of magnetised water see

http://www.wholly-water.com/magnetizer/Plant.growth.htm and

http://www.magneticeast.com/agriculture/results.html .

Which Magnets to Use

Commonly used sizes of strong ferro-ceramic magnets, for short-term

application or serious disorders and strong pain are approximately 15 X 5 X 1.5

cm or

7.5 X 5 X 2 cm, while small magnets for long-term application and magnet

meridian therapy may be about 5 X 2 X I cm. These magnets are 'oriented' with

5000

gauss per cm2, compared with 1000 gauss for non-oriented magnets. Ceramic

magnets break easily if dropped or snapped together.

In recent years much stronger but smaller neodymium magnets have become

available. These have 9 or 10,000 gauss and if two of the larger magnets snap

together they are not easy to separate. One cannot pull them apart; you need to

slide them off each other. The larger disks are about 22 x 10 mm in size or

blocks are available about 25 x 25 x 13 mm. The smaller disks are only a few

millimetres across and commonly taped over acupuncture points.

For pain or problems with the back, elbows, knees and ankles magnetic body

wraps with 6 or more south-pointing neodymium magnets are available from

www.rembrandt.net.au. Magnetic pulsers are another diverse group of effective

healing tools. For information on Beck-type pulsers see the page Electronic

Zappers &

Magnetic Pulsers http://users.mrbean.net.au/~wlast/electromag.html

To buy magnets see the Yellow Pages of major cities. Test the polarities of

acquired magnets - you cannot rely on the pole designations of the

manufacturers, especially in the USA where the poles commonly have the opposite

names as

compared to those used in science. Albert Roy Davies and Walter C. Rawls made

the original discoveries and experiments with the biological use of magnets.

They published the books 'Magnetism and its Effects on the Living System', 'The

Magnetic Blueprint of Live' and 'The Magnetic Effect'
