Guest guest
New member here seeking information on Swedish Bitters. I mixed up my first batch a couple of days ago and am wondering if anyone has used these and if the claims for all the cures are true. We are trying to stay antibiotic free and I am in the process of drying a variety of herbs that can be found locally. Thanks in advance. Guest guest
Shan I recently purchased the book Health through Gods Pharmacy by maria Treben In it she spoke highly of a mixture called Swedish Bitters. To read about it you would gather that it cures just about everything! There are a bunch of herbs and you mix them up in alcohol. Aloe Myrrh Saffron Senna leaves Camphor Rhubarb root Zedvoary roots Manna Theriac venezian carline Thistle root and Angelica roots. If you google up Swedish Bitters you will come up with something as I don't have a direct contact:) I purchased mine for 13.50 from Good for you America free shipping. The packets each mix 2 litres of brew. Mine is not yet two weeks old yet but my husband tasted it and said it was a mistake to use his best brandy:) Either way, I am going to give it a good try. Wish someone had some testimony to share. Blessings back Sandra
Guest guest
Dear Calico: I have used Swedish Bitters produced commercially for about 20 years, and about 3 years ago began buying the herbs and making my own. I have congenital hieatal hernia, and for years suffered from acid reflux, candidias, and very poor digestive and liver function, as well as constipation and had very poor gut flora, so had resulting poor immune function, etc. Most of this was due to ignorance of good nutrition and ignorance by AMA physicians in prescribing me medicines and treatments that did not work well for my body. In my fifties, I almost died and began the long and fruitful process of taking full responsibility for my own health. It is my belief that Swedish Bitters has helped me, along with complete change in how I eat, shop for food, cook and prepare it, along with a whole range of fermented/microbrial foods and drinks, herbal and vit/min. supplements, etc. I take a l/2 teaspoon of bitters with good water either before and just after I eat at home. When I travel or eat out I take a digestive enzyme tablet. I no longer suffer from acid reflux, constipation, candidias and am extremely healthy for my mid-70's. I am very grateful to a beloved friend from Switzerland who first advised me to take this product back in the mid-1970's. and I had to order it from overseas.. I t is my opinion that it would not now be available on the shelves of H.E.B. grocery stores in Texas if it not selling well to satisfied customers! I have never had such a hard time swallowing a teaspoon of anything. It is incredibly icky. It does work on headaches. thanks sandra Re:Swedish Bitters? Guest guest
No, I have a very tough palate from years of being a " pepper head " . And you would not believe the terrible taste of some of the homemade tonics for spring cleanses my grandmother made me take as a child back in the 1930's! I learned to down 'em quick, drink water and take a peppermint candy. Also, I have observed that for the Western palate, bitterness is our least acceptable taste sensation. And yet, it is a very necessary part of our essential diet. I mean that bitter foods are necessary in a balanced diet. When I lived in Africa, they knew this, and all the Eastern cultural palates, as well as the Russian include lots of foods with the bitter taste. It can be aquired , and the scientific data and research are available on line to explain better than I can why we really should make this taste part of our daily food intake.
