Say NO to the Texas has formed a Texas Health Freedom Committee presenting HB 3056 in opposition to Dietetics and Nutrition Practice Act HB 2419 & SB 1168. Please contact your legislators asap. They also have a website http://www.texashealthfreedom.com/ If you have time the point papers and the white paper are quite interesting. The Dietician's bills would undoubtedly put thousands of independent Health practitioners out of business. HB056 removes obstacles for unlicensed practitioners such as Homeopaths, Master Herbalists, Naturopathic Doctors, Auryvedics, etc. The Texas Occupations Code does not include these practitioner modalities. There is a registration system but is separate from the Occupations Code. Therefore it is necessary to support HB 3056, reserving our right to choose for whomever we want to consult for our complimentary health care. For example, I know a talented Master Herbalist, she is a single mother of 2 special needs children. If HB 3056 is not passed, and the Dietician's bills are passed, she would not be able to work anymore as a Master Herbalist and have NO source of income for her 2 special needs children. This example is just one of many that would be adversely affected by the Dietician's bill, which is ONLY to grab a monopoly, is not about consumer protection, but greed for the nutritional market share.
