Guest guest
Ms Neff After reading your post regarding ACV, it occured to me that I'd recently read posts that didn't like ACV, and wanted your reaction. I sent a question to Alkalinize for Health, a site, about the wisdom of using ACV, and received the reply below. I seem to have had good luck with ACV, but the moderator at Alkalinize for Health, appears to frown on its use. Can you comment? Guest guest
I am a 35 year old women and a WORD OF CAUTION on apple cider vinegar. I started taking apple cider vinegar and within 6 weeks I was experiencing bad symptoms of anxiety and depression. Why, apple cider vinegar can and will cause many people with depress immune symptoms to develop a yeast over growth in their intestinal tract with can cause an array of symptoms. I had got yeast so bad that it was causing my heart to race to the point I had so much pressure in my chest I thought I was having a panic attack, I was serverly depressed and had server anxiety and panic attacks. Yeast releases toxic substances, which effect you. I had a candida test which showed yeast. Just be careful using this remedy and you should be under a doctors care when doing so. I honestly didn't see any true effects from drinking apple cider vinegar, it actually disrupt my life for over a year till the yeast was back in control. I WILL NEVER EVER try this again. Guest guest
I have used raw, apple cider vinegar in my drinking water (distilled) to replace the lost minerals for over six years with the first year being a time when I was fighting stage 3 colon cancer. I would disagree that vinegar is vinegar. Raw, unpasteurized, organic apple cider vinegar, while consider acidic, will have an alkaline effect on the body much the same way as acidic fruits do. White distilled vinegar is not good for anything except cleaning or pickling (as is indicated below). Do some research and you will find out why. Also the information below is interesting: " Apple Cider Vinegar in itself is alkaline because of its " ash " content, which means if the apple cider vinegar was burned, what is left over becomes ash. When you check for the pH of that ash and dissolve it with water, the content is alkaline. Whenever our body digests anything, it undergoes oxidation, which is similar to burning and the end result is that you can determine whether the end product was alkaline or acid. Apple Cider Vinegar has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties, primarily coming from the malic acid and acetic acid portion of the vinegar. Apple cider vinegar acts as a buffer in the body because the acetic acid reacts with base or acid compounds to form an acetate, therefore rendering them chemically bioavailable for the body's utilization. Additionally, Apple Cider Vinegar can reduce the toxicity of certain compounds by converting the toxin into an acetate compound, which is less toxic. This is why they are ideal for insect bites and certain skin allergies. While Apple Cider vinegar in itself is considered alkaline, a chemically pure vinegar (acetic acid) is neither acid nor basic forming as it leaves no ash as the entire portion, when burned evaporates completely. " " There is nothing beneficial about commercial distilled vinegars except for pickling, cleaning and disinfection ---they have no health value! They do not contain the health values of organic, raw apple cider vinegar with the mother still intact and viable. Distilled white vinegar and cider vinegar sold in supermarkets are considered " dead " vinegars with none of the enzymes and other live factors that make raw, unpasteurized vinegars so valuable. Distilling removes the beneficial " mother " from the vinegar, thereby, destroying the powerful enzymes and life giving minerals such as potassium, phosphorus, natural organic sodium, magnesium, sulphur, iron copper, natural organic fluorine, silicon, trace minerals, pectin and other powerful nutrients. Also destroyed are natural malic and tartaric acids, which are important in fighting body toxins and inhibiting unfriendly bacteria growth (Bragg 1- 4). Guest guest
I use raw cider vinegar, as I have Barrett's esopagus, low grade dysplasia, a hernia, etc., and when my stomach hurts the vinegar stops the burn and pain instantly. The last time I was scoped the dysplasia was gone and I feel that RCD had a lot to do with it. Read Braggs book on raw cider vinegar with mother -- great book. Guest guest
There is absolutely NO scientific evidence that apple cider vinegar forms a clear conclusion about the efficacy or safety of apple cider vinegar for any health condition. I used Raw organic apple cider and it didn't proof nothing for me. I am not trying to tell me not to use it, just if you do...Watch out because you might be surprise what you might get. For me it caused me to get yeast over growth and I'm not the only one. I have heard from many others claiming the same thing. Guest guest
A quick google turns up that the moderator of alaklizeforhealth's contention of the pH of vinegar is out by a factor of about 100 TIMES. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinegar ...maybe not authoritiative enough but i think so for this purpose. I'm not sure that any of his statements about vinegar are true, but if he was out by a much smaller percent on other health issues as he is in his own field of pH he could be causing a lot of trouble, no? Anyone who is well versed in alternative medicine and the alternative approach to nutrition will tell you that BRAGG's vinegar is the specific brand of organic vinegar which supplies the healing " cultures " (if you are familiar with probiotics for restoration of beneficial bacteria within the gut) needed for proper digestive capability. There are basically only three major sources; BRAGGS Apple cider vinegar which has passed down the beneficial cultures for generations, saurkraut, and Millett Water,as directed have the proper cultures to maintain good stomach flora. Anythingother than this, even certain organic brands do not possess the same healing potential! Certainly, as someone mentioned earlier, this is one area where specific brands are needed to provide the necessary components. Indivduals suffering from joint and muscle pain due to autoimmune problems, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and fibromyalgia, often have a condition known as " leaky gut syndrome. " Specific nutrients which coat and soothe the intestinal lining helping to heal " leaky gut " , can help arthritis. They include the traditional demulcent, soothing herbs such as marshmallow root and okra, and L-glutamine, an amino which reestablishes gut integrity and helps to re-grow flattened " villi " - the tiny finger like protrusions that line the GI tract " Dysbiosis " , the proliferation of " unfriendly " microorganisms, including bacteria, yeast, fungi and parasites, is not widely recognized by conventional medicine. Yet, these organisms are present in a large majority of people who suffer from muscle and joint pains. Bragg's apple cider vinegar acts to discourage the growth of pathogenic organisms, while building and supporting the immune system Blessings, JoAnn
Guest guest
If someone contends that ACV dilutes stomach acid overly much, then does he or she also believe that drinking water (which is more alakaline than ACV) is even more harmful? Guest guest
Rose, couldn't that yeast overgrowth in the bowel have been caused by something other than the vinegar? Probiotic organisms naturally give off the exact same acid - acetic acid - to control yeast overgrowth and other pathogens that are involved in dysbiosis. Maybe there was some sugar content left in the apple cider vinegar for the organisms to work on but I doubt even the low amount of sugar that might be in the vinegar could a problem. Guest guest
Bonnie, I'm a natural food eater. I don't eat meat, the only meat I eat is fish/seafood. I eat lots of raw/lightly steamed vegetables. I do eat fruit, but not as much as I should. I eat lots of salads. I consume a healthy diet. I do not drink coffee, tea, soda or anything that contains sugar in it. I do not drink any alcohol beverages either. Never have. I was perfectly healthy and fine up till ( I say) about 4-5 weeks of taking apple cider vinegar. I started using the Raw organic (Bragg's) vinegar because I read his book and saw all the healing properties in it. My first symptoms I got within 1 week of the apple cider was being fatigue and weakness. I didn't associate it with the vinegar. I continue to keep taking it and I got weaker and weaker. Then the depression started and I was becoming constipated and sick to my stomach. I then noticed around the 4 th week my stools looked strange, I cannot explain it. I stopped the vinegar usage and some of my symptoms went away. I was still very depressed and having issues with my stools. So, I went to a wellness center and she ran some test. Candida was one of them and It was pretty bad. I asked Lori if the raw organic cider could of done it. She said absolutely. She told me to STOP ingesting it. I did. I was put on a Candida diet and within 6 weeks I was finally beginning to feel better. I was well again, not 100%, but almost, and wanted to test the theory to see if the apple cider vinegar was the culprit. In within one week I again was very exhausted and my stools where looking strange again (almost yeasty looking) I stopped the vinegar. I immediately went on my Candida diet. I know it's caused from the vinegar. I will not use it again. I'm happy to hear others had success with it. It is not for me! Caused me way to much issues and trouble.
